How do you get it off?
Plaster, as in bandage?
Orange oil works.
Sticky as in price tag? Nail polish remover gets it off.
For just about any sticky gluey stuff, Goo Gone™ will work. I guess it’s a little less environmentally friendly than orange oil, but it’s available about anywhere.
If you want something less toxic, there is a line of products called “Citrus Magic™” which is a little harder to find. They have a citrus-based adhesive remover (look for “Citrus Magic Stain & Adhesive Remover” on the web page).
I have been quite satisfied with Citrus Magic products.
Apply a little oil (olive, canola or other food oil).
Yeah, he’s in England. Over there, a plaster is what most of us would call a Band Aid
™ or adhesive bandage.
Sure, I didn’t think he was talking about a remodelling disaster. However, the OP might have applied a mustard plaster to his chest, and had problems getting it off.
Ugh, the adhesive on bandaids give me a red, scaly, itchy rash that lasts for weeks. I had a bandaid on my arm on Thanksgiving, and I still have a reddish, flaky patch where it was. The kind of bandage for sensitive skin is better, but not great.
So what is that sticky stuff made out of, anyway? Is it in any other stuff that I should avoid?
Liquid naptha works great, if a bit smelly. It’s sold in the US as a cleaning solvent (one brand name is “Energine”) , and also sold as a liquid fuel (one brand name is “Ronsonol”) for old-fashioned wick-based cigarette lighters like these http://store.weblighter.com/zippo--lighters.html.
