STIGMATA: What do you believe?

Nothing is more important to Mr. Magoo than his cane.

I am in the camp of extremely devout Christrians trying to emulate Jesus (“Become more Christ-Like”) and becoming entranced and their subconscious creates these wounds psychosomatically. I think there may genuinely be some who legitimately feel themselves so holy that this happens to them. Props to them for feeling the way they wanted to feel.

Sounds like an attention-getting ploy to me.

“Look at me! I’m so holy!”

And yet even if it were some kind of “miracle” it would have to be one of the most asinine and least useful “miracles” God has come up with so far.

Ouch! Maybe it’s just me but everybody appears to be diving off into different tangents.

That aside, this topic, as I assume from the rally of replies, is either a touchy subject or I misjudged the belief of Dopers in general. Most of you seem to believe it’s a psychological thing. Okay. I now have a grasp on that. And I am considering just letting the whole thing go, because non-believers in Stigmata (and I do hate that term, non-believer, but I can’t come up with a better one) appear to despise the very idea and revile it with all their energy.

Or perhaps I’m full of crap and this is what a true SDMB debate is actually like. If this is so, correct me.

Nicely.

Well non-believers would also mean “heathens”. Sorry just wanting to inquire.

snicker snicker.
