Larry, I think a lot of this vitriol toward you is coming from the way you phrased your initial response. Plus, had you linked to a non-“garbled” report explaining the situation as you explained it in your most recent post, it would have cleared things up.

It’s true in my case. Especially since you were asking for a second source, yet weren’t revealing yours. Had you been more clear, I wouldn’t have jumped down your throat.

The election was marked by confusion for a time when it appeared that the number of ballots cast exceeded the number of eligible voters by one. It turned out that clerks had left Luis Fortuno, the resident commissioner of Puerto Rico, off their list. He is not allowed to vote on the House floor, but does have voting rights in the GOP’s internal deliberations.

So, yes, there were more votes cast than there appeared to be voters. But the mystery was solved.

I do have to agree that, judging from other news sources, you jumped the gun on this one, NurseCarmen. There was a bit of procedural confusion, but even if there HAD been hanky-panky, it wouldn’t speak to the national Republican Party or to any general election. Congressional committee votes have as much relationship to general election votes as the colossal squid has to a jerboa.

Why does this even matter? It’s not like this matters, all at stake is which Republican is going to be majority leader.

Some might argue that if they are willing to cheat over something relatively trivial, then they are even morel likely to cheat when there’s something more important to gain.
