With a Freedom of information act request, the truth is that Cork Graham has never served in any branch of the military. He did dropout of NROTC program after a few months to try to be a foreign corespondent in Asia, he did get arrested for entering Vietnam illegally, he even went to El Salvador as a failed freelance journalist, and took some pictures of himself in Rambo gear, but he is and never was a soldier. He promotes himself spinning tall tails to sell books and promote his fake persona for purposes of ego.
Stolen valor for personal gain is a federal offense, but unfortunately is not enforced very often. It’s not just a slap in the face to anyone that has served, it a discredit to the honor of those who lost it all in service.
I understand that this is something that highly offends some people, but in most cases it’s not a good use of law enforcement and justice system resources to prosecute these cases.

It’s not at all clear to me why we should be glorifying killing anyway. It’s a sin. It’s not something that can ever be morally justified, under any circumstances, for any reason.

God did no such thing. The Old Testament claims God did, but the Old Testament is not an accurate reflection of God.
If God is perfect and therefore eternal and unchanging, then since the OT and NT provide very different portrayals of God, then at most one of them can be correct.
The NT portrayal comports better with the God whose love and compassion I experience regularly. Thus, I must conclude that the OT is wrong, and probably an example of an unfortunate tendency that societies often have of inventing divine justification for their secular sins.
