You know, listening to that I think it’s echoes of Make Me Smile that are rattling around in my head whenever I hear Interstate Love Song.
Terry Kath, damn, what a loss! He and Weiland were both incredible talents lost way too soon.

I think Layne’s death was a rather late postscript. AIC had been inactive almost entirely from 1997-2002, the time of his death. They didn’t do a full tour for their last album and it was becoming obvious Layne Staley was stopping them from being a full band.
When he died, I was said, but it definitely felt like “I guess it finally happened.”
Yeah, I was thinking about that aspect the other night while listening to Crackerman. It’s really quite amazing that he didn’t die 20 something years ago. It’s still tragic and pointless and stupid like any other drug abuser’s drug abusing death, but amazing how long he cheated death.
Much of the coverage I saw WRT Layne Staley’s death had to do with the fact that he’d been very famous, and was estimated to have been dead for about 2 weeks before anyone noticed.
Same thing with Kevin DuBrow a few years later, although in his case, his death probably happened about a week before someone decided to check on him.
