The only one who ever forwards me stuff is my sister, and she knows the sort of things I find amusing, so it’s OK. Besides, one of her best friends is the son of a science-fiction writer, and occasionally a few interesting names appear on one of the forwarded cc: lists.
My sister is the Queen of all Forwards. She has some deranged circle of friends whose entire life must consist of forwarding things to each other, and of course, everything finds its way into my mailbox. After many gentle hints (I admit it, I’m a non-confrontational wuss) I finally got fed up and forwarded her literally everything I could find. I don’t get much spam, so I went into my husband’s Excite account (he never throws anything out until they threaten him) and sent her all his spam. And she still didn’t get the hint! She seemed to think it was a good practical joke, heck she probably liked getting it. So, now I’ve basically given up and created a mailing list of people who like forwards and whenever any one of them sends me anything with FWD in the title, I just pass it on w/out even reading it. Of course, the person who originally sent it gets it back, but I think of it as my little revenge. It’s not much, but I already said I was a big wuss.

We have somebody here at work who keeps sending “Chicken Soup for <whatever>”. At least she has gotten the message that mailing to everybody is a bad idea, and only posts to one of our in-house newsgroups.
Maybe we could have a kwt.chicken-soup newsgroup when Donna the Mail-mistress gets back from vacation …
