I have some information that I thought that most here would be interested in. We all have to much stuff cramming our mailboxes.
It is from Real Simple magazine article that I cut out last year. I am going to make a huge effort to stop junk mail in my life.
Here is the goods.
"You can save yourself a few bucks and boost your chances of reducing junk mail altogether by contacting companies yourself. It may not sound simple, but lunching one well orchestrated attack can stop junk mailers all together for good.
It’s this easy. Sit down at the computer and devise a form leter stating in clear language that you want to be removed from a company’s list. Be sure to include your full correct name and complete addres and signature. Then fill in the company names, print and send the letters off to:
List brokers: these companies sell names, adresses and profiles of people likely to respond to mail solicitations. Send your form letter to the Polk Company, Donnelly Marketing, Database America and List Services. If you run a business, include Dun and Bradstreet.
**Dear Occupant" coupon distributors ** The largets are ADVO Inc, Cox Target Media,Harte-Hankes Data Services, and Money Mailer.
** Credit Bureaus** sell your financial information (along with your name,address, date of birth, social security number, employers name, address and your payment history on loans and other bills. Calling the National Opt-out Center will stop the three major bureaus - Experian, Equifax and Trans Union from sharing your specifics.

Contact these companies via their toll free numbers to stop unwanted mailings.
