Once in Sunday School (FYI: I’m an atheist now) when I was about 9 years old, the teacher, an old man, told a story that just went right over my head. He told us about a man who lived in a dark cave. One day, the man walked out of the darkness and into the light. The light was too bright for him, so he went back into his dark cave. Well, the symbolism is obvious to adults, but I asked “Why didn’t he just go back in the dark cave and come out at night, so he could get used to the light slowly, as the sun came up?”. The jackass old bastard of a teacher let me know that he didn’t appreciate my smart-aleck comments in the House of the Lord.
Well, what story just went right over your little head???
