Story Behind Your SD "Handle"?

I’ve had too. The current one is taken from my old AoHell screen name, itself derived from a character in my unpublished fantasy novel (not one I’ve ever mentioned on her), in inspired by the these guys.

The old one is a reference to the fantasy novel I am trying to sell know that I used to go on and on on the boards about.

I posted right below Mika! I feel all special.

Ah, I’d been wondering about that.

This big dude came up behind me and told me take it or else. Honestly, it wasn’t my first choice.

Two. :stuck_out_tongue:

I forgot, my old handle was Elenia which I grabbed from David Eddings novels.

waits for Gaudere to strike

And I always thought it was a play on the name “Anna” plus “amiko”, which is similar to “friend” in assorted Romance-based languages (and means “friend” in Esperanto). It also seems vaguely Japanese to me.

It’s through Spoons that I first heard of the art of musical spoons, which otherwise never would have occurred to me.

When I see the name Kalhoun, I always think of some kind of Old Western traveller, in hat and oilskin duster, combined with a Colonel-Sanders-type Southern gentleman, though with sandy brown hair and not as old as the Colonel. I gather from at least one other thread that this is not at all what Kalhoun is actually like.

Mine has absolutely nothing to do with the Star Trek series, but is the name of a starship in a novel which I’ve been editing for ages. It long predates the show, and even TNG.

:: eyes widening in shock and pain::

I don’t believe it. You – YOU – are pointing out my typos ? I thought we meant MORE to one another than that.

::weeping bitter, rage-filled tears ::

Okay, mourning over. Now for the revenge.

:: spins wheel o’vengeance to find a scapegoat for Anaamika::

Now you’ve done it, Anaamika. You’ve scalded the Rhymer.

Actually, on the contrary - I only point out typos of people I love.

groan OneCentStamp, that was horrible. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

When I signed up The Poochie episode of The Simpsons was on in the background. “Gangster Octopus” was one of the possible options given when they were trying to decide on a new character to bring into the Itchy & Scratchy universe.

I have to be honest. While the capitals certainly help, I still hear it the other way in my head. And, for the record, it still gives me a grin.

Got my name from the LA studio musicians from the 1960s. Originally used for a softball team, it has come in handy on many occassions.

The Wrecking Crew

It’s just a name that came to me. I was reading a book on Renaissance Italy at the time. Borgia seemed a little pretentious, so I thought Larry would balance it.

I’m small
pinkish
and my Dad is an ex-Major

Is that sufficient explanation?

Unfortunately, no. This may be one of those cross-pond incomprehensions.

I took my name from a character in Children of Dune by Frank Herbert. It sounds ever so vaguely like my real name. I had used it in a couple other places before that. Unfortunately, since I signed up, a miniseries was made and they cast a pretty hot chick as Ghanima and now I can’t get the name on other boards and stuff anymore. I usually use a variation now, Ghanimatrix. Stupid SciFi channel.

Small Clanger features in this searing expose of the conspiracy behind the “moon landings”.

A play on great dane. Being 6’9", I wanted Big Dave, as that is one of many nicknames, but it was taken.

I’m gnamed for Gary Gnu of The Great Space Coaster TV show of my childhood. It’s where Kevin Clash (Elmo) got his start (playing Goriddle Gorilla).

Mine is rather boring and uncreative, just my initials followed by the year in which I was born.
