Story Behind Your SD "Handle"?

The day I signed up I’d just received a parcel from my pals in Rhode Island.

It contained cans of Clam Chowder which you can’t get in the UK and which I’d gladly kill for.

It seemed appropriate somehow, now it just looks daft

Wow. I completely forgot about that thread! Glad I could help hoist you out of the doldrums!

Red Roses for Me is the name of a Pogues album. They’re my favorite band, and I also thought it was funny because I don’t like roses at all.

I like C S Lewis. In Out of the Silent Planet, Malacandra is the name of the planet Mars, which is run by a kinda archangel known to the natives as “Oyarsa”. However, each planet has its own Oyarsa, and when it is necessary to distinguish him from another, the Martian one is himself called “Malacandra”. So the same name is applicable to both the planet and its ruling archon.

Hee, who are you crushing on? Me or Skaldy?

I’ve played with the Wheel and now it’s totally rigged. I’m gonna turn the Wheel of Vengeance on Malacandra.

I think I’ve said this before, but every time I see your name, my mouth waters. Now I’m not the only one!

**Luna ** is a nickname, given to me in high school because I love the moon. **V ** is my last initial. Boring, and I use it everywhere.

My real name is not Sam, but I’m over here, and Siam Sam has a nice ring to it. There’s already a website by someone calling himself Bangkok Bob, and Thailand Ted just doesn’t sound right.

When I signed up for the Dope I was playing a female undead mage in WoW and this was her name.

I was tired of all the asshat’s that constantly bother you to give them money and the word “asshat” was on my mind when I was thinking up a name for the toon and reversing “asshat” sounded like a pretty name for a female to me so I used it and when trying to think up a name for the Dope I was running a blank so I just used Tahssa. (I’m pretty sure that was a run-on sentence but since I’ve always sucked at sentence structure I am not sure if it is or not.)

Paintcharge was the title of the job I used to do.

In some theatres it’s called the charge artist, the head painter, lead painter ar any variation of those. I started using it when signing up for accounts years ago and it just stuck.

The day I signed up, I happened to be reading a collection of “Li’l Abner” comic strips. Lonesome Polecat always struck me as the funniest of the minor recurring characters in Al Kapp’s classic comic strip. The name not only amused me, it also seemed to communicate the message, “I really don’t care what you think of me, so sod off.” And anyway, Lonesome Polecat lived his life the way I’d like to live mine: brewing bootleg liquor with a redneck buddy in a cave.

I love it!

Honestly though, I saw your name recently and thought it was pretty. :smack:

Woman, what is WRONG with you?!?!?!? I need that eviling!

You are getting SUCH a spanking.

And by “spanking” I mean “brutal whipping with a cat-o-nine-tails administered by my new chief hangman, Lord Flagonthrop.”

And by ‘you’ I mean “Paris Hilton, whom am I giving all the whippings you earn this week.”

My beard’s really not that scraggly.

Originally I actually wanted to be called

“SirAloysiusRaikesV.C.Of27ButtermereCloseBletchlyMiltonKeynesBedfordshireU.K.”
but somebody beat me to it.

Obviously Lust4life was the closest user name to it so I chose that instead.

I just took mine off a Wikipedia editor I didn’t like.

I did, on your recommendation. It’s hilarious. Thanks!

[sigh]

A little-known Muppet. When I first heard the name, I laughed hysterically, and so as it was about the time I was lurking on the Boards, I used it when I joined.

Wonderfully enough, nobody knows it and I use it for IM, e-mail, and every other message board or whatever I want to use.

I am the only Gorgon Heap, I can be recognized as that wherever I go, and I like that.

Oh, yes, a few comments I wanted to make for no reason. That book, “The Areas of my Expertise,” is really, really funny. Got it for Christmas last year from my mom.

Also, **Freddy the Pig ** … just wanted to say, it’s a name I’ve not heard in two decades, but I found those books while perusing the school library one day and ate them all up. In class we were reading that book about the Germans invading Norway, or whatever, and it was so dry … I found Freddy the Pig and the series totally opened me up to reading for the rest of my life.

Just thought I’d share.

Frost just sounded badass but it was always taken whenever I would use it. I have red hair (well stawberry blonde) and so added it to frost. Redfrost. That used to be original, now it’s everywhere.

Even though I assumed that anyone reading my name would understand immediately, I’ve been proved wrong on several occasions.
I’m PICU nurse. as in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
That was my last incarnation in a 40+ year career in specialty medicine.
My first screen name on the 'net was TraumaNurse. That was in 1994 on AOL.
