Straight Dopers Do Make A Difference!

This is related to the Animal Abuse thread in the Pit.

It gives me great pride to report that our clan has made a significant difference in the case of Chubz the cat. The case in question concerns several cats that were tortured by a pair of maggots who are now in custody.

The Pit thread resulted in so many responses to the prosecuter’s office that my new friend, Deborah Biggs (thanks to the Pit thread), has told me that she has been given the cold shoulder by the Santa Clara District Attorney due to suspicion that she has drummed up public outrage in the case of Chubz the cat. In reality, it has been due to the huge response of outrage by our boards in particular that Deborah has been suspected of complicity in this campaign.

Words (for once in my lifetime), fail me in my desire to share how proud I am of this board and its compassion for our mute friends. That Deborah should be suspected of waging a publicity effort when in reality it is just us Straight Dopers who have made the difference is something that fills me with pride.

Thank you, each and every one of you. I have had several long chats and conversations with Deborah and she is taken aback by the level of response by our clan. All that I can come up with at this point is a sense of Thanksgiving. All of you have made me intensely thankful to be a part of this online community.

With Love,

Chris
