StraightDope violating readers' privacy?

A ZdNet story today (12/8/10) at http://www.zdnet.com/blog/perlow/youporn-sued-for-browser-history-sniffing-wired-named-in-tracking-scandal/15127?tag=nl.e539
is about websites that are sniffing their readers’ browser history exposed by a UCSD study… and right on the list is Straightdope.com (page 9 of the study).

Straightdope.com is apparently using javascript tools from interclick.com to read your history and then transmit it back to its server for analysis.

What’s going on here Cecil?

There is an ATMB thread about this here. In short, it was an advertising network and they stopped. They’re very sorry and they won’t do it again, of course.

Since their is an earlier thread in ATMB and the question is about the SDMB, I’ll close this one.
