Strange Amazon.ca glitch

I ordered a book for my husband on December 9 through Amazon with expected delivery by December 30 at latest. I hadn’t received it yet and this afternoon opened the order email to link to Amazon to send an email to the seller. Amazon asked me to log in.

I log in and up pops a screen that says that account is not linked to that order. I search the history and it’s no where to be found. Then I notice that the name at the top of the Amazon page is with my married name, but the email I received was in my maiden name. Hm.

I log out and log back in using the exact same email address, and a slightly different password, and voila, I’m in the right account.

How is it possible to hold two different Amazon accounts with the same email address? I thought places like that won’t allow duplicate emails when they’re used as the unique identifiers? :dubious:

They might allow it for cases where both spouses use the same email address.

Edited to add that my brother and his wife shared an email address for years. Now she has her own, which makes things easier when I want to talk to her about what to get my brother for Christmas.
