I think the Russians have hacked Amazon.

So I tried to log into Amazon today, but it keeps telling me that no account with my email address was found. I tried using the app on phone, which I’m apparently still logged in on, but when I actually click Login & Security it keeps directing me to a Sign in page w/ the email address filled in as zinaevsikova@mail.ru. Meddling in our elections was one thing, but this is downright petty & annoying. Waiting for a response from Amazon Customer Service.

I don’t think they “hacked Amazon,” but somehow got your password for either the Amazon account or your email account and used that to change the email address on it. Change your email password ASAP. If you had any saved payment methods, at a minimum you should watch for any bogus charges from Amazon (I don’t think it’s possible to see the card number once it’s been entered, but if you’re very worried you should contact your banks and have the cards canceled).

And now everything is back to normal. :dubious:

This has been happening to a few people who do the Mturk thing on Amazon over the past few days.

It happened to us, too, a couple of weeks ago. It was the same deal, with the address fill-in showing as someone in Romania. We promptly got in touch with Amazon and had our account frozen until it could be dealt with. This involved changing our e-mail password. And we kept a close eye on our bank account for several days as well.

ETA: What’s Mturk?

Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program.

I work for Da Jungle and I have relatives in Georgia and Komi. Its a coincidence, I tell you ------ a coincidence!
