Strange Line Breaks In Posts

(Apologies to mods, please move this thread if you see fit but I figured GQ was the best place to go…)

There’s some posters that I’ve noticed
who always seem to have odd line breaks in their
posts.

Their sentences don’t ever seem to span the entire width of the page. It kind of niggles when I have to read it, because it makes the flow of the post break up and feel very stilted, but I don’t complain because it’s really a silly thing to be bothered about. But it does make me wonder - do these people type those line breaks on purpose, or is it a side effect of something like cutting and pasting their post from where they’ve typed it in notepad or MS Word in an effort to thwart the hamster crashes?

Probably inadvertent hard carriage returns, not noticed by the poster because of his/her window size.

For example, based on my window size at the moment, I appear to be running out of room after the word “running”. If I had hit a hard return there, and here, this paragraph would look like this:

On my posting window, both paragraphs look the same. But after I hit “submit reply”, I bet they won’t.

IIRC, Microsoft’s WebTV used to toss in a hard carriage return at the end of each line.
