Today I was sailing on the San Diego bay and saw what looked like a Southwest airplane land at Coronado Naval air base. For those of you unfamiliar with San Diego Coronado is across the bay from the San Diego Airport. I saw what looked like a southwest plane gaining altitude from the passenger airport on a somewhat strange heading over the bay. I looked away to do some sailing stuff and when I looked up the plane was landing at Coronado. It looked like either an aborted takeoff or aborted landing. But there is no news about such things. I would like to know what I really saw.
What time of day? With this I might be able to get some some info.
It was about 11:45 am plus or minus say 20 minutes.
The military rents/charters aircraft.
That could explain it.
In this case, it was probably a Southwest jet that was making a charter flight.
Thanks,
I didn’t think that southwest chartered its planes.
