**The K, circled K, and the circled U are all meant to indicate the product is kosher. **
Is the Circle K chain, brought to national prominence by the excellent adventure of one Bill S. Preston, Esq. and one Ted “Theodore” Logan", kosher or kosher-related?
Only other thing I can hink of is a weird monogram of OK.
I don’t know, but on a trip to LA a few years ago, my friend and I drove out to San Dimas and went looking for the Circle K. It took a while to find it, but it was worth it. There’s no phone booth there, though.
When the late Fred Hervey purchased 5 El Paso convienance stores run by the Misenhimer family around 1952 they were named after one of the most popular members of the family: Kaye.
They were identified as “Kay’s” or “Kaye’s” surrounded by an oval. Hervey changed the logo to the simple K surrounded by a circle. He would go on to expand the chain to 12 states when he sold it to investors around 1982.
Circle K # 1 & 2 are long gone. Circle K #3 still lives at 1201 North Stanton Street in El Paso.
So nope, nuthin Kosher there.
