Stray Cat In Basement

String works really well for luring a cat out of someplace. Lay down about 10 feet of it near the cat.
Grab the other end and walk toward the place where you want the critter to go. If he’s a real cat, he’ll follow.

The Cat who…came to dinner.

@Spiderman

Thank you for the book link.

I got that word wrong again. “Who’s” is not right. Should have been “whom’s”.

I love finding some of my typos and then needing to explain!

All good.

I think Goo would be happy to be an only cat, but she seems to get along well enough with Abbey. I think Abbey would like to have a kitten to be a mother to. Perhaps the cat distribution system will sort things out.

That’s an excellent idea!

If the above doesn’t work, get 100’ of string. Then put on a full a suit of armor, followed by chain-mail, hockey goalie equipment & then baseball catcher’s attire, in that order. You may be able to use the string to tie the cat up & take it where you want, if you’re really good…possibly

Oh I think not! I’ve seen some of these cats in action when they are frustrated! Which was my original fear about confronting the little critter in my basement.

Which is why one wears four layers of protective attire!

How recent was this?
You might check with your doctor – they have new anti-allergen medications now that are more effective.
And there are some cat breeds that are hypo-allergenic.

The chance of a stray being hypo-allergenic is low, but anti-allergy medicine is a possible solution, should she chose to come again.

That’s pretty much how we adopted Meave the cat. (That’s her over there :arrow_left:)
She turned up at our house about 15 years ago and never left.
… though we didn’t try very hard to find out where she came from ! She wasn’t chipped (but had been spayed).

The OP had a knife. The cat had a gun.

@pjd

Meave is adorable!

This was a good many years ago (late 1990s/early 2000s I believe).

If I were a good bit younger and had more social support I might consider this as I love cats.

But a pet would just not fit into my life at this point.

It would not be fair to the animal to be left alone for so long each day when I work and for long periods of time when I travel.

When I first saw the pic, I thought it said Move the cat, as if it were a challenge!

Death by snorgling is how I want to go.

It’s not the snorgling that’s fatal, it’s the feline version of Death By A Thousand Cuts,
