Streaming video -- what's changing in 2020?

I know that streaming video services routinely add and drop TV series as their streaming licenses expire or are acquired. Is there a comprehensive guide anywhere that describes what’s coming and going? (Especially going.)

I discovered the hard way today that Doctor Who is no longer available (for free) on Amazon Prime. We were watching last night and I fell asleep in the middle of an episode. I went to go finish it up this afternoon and discovered that it is now pay-per-view on Prime. So that sucks. And it makes me wonder how many other series I’m in the middle of on Prime or Netflix that have gone poof as of January 1.

Yeah, I need some sort of easy to use, up to date resource to find shows.
There are some old series, mostly from the 70s and 80s, that I’d like to find. Legally, that is.

Oh no! I guess I’m lucky I finally caught up on the Capaldi episodes last month and got to rewatch the Smith Christmas episodes.
It was a big reason I caved in and took prime.

EDIT: Now that I remember, it was because Amazon bought the rights that we no longer got Dr. Who on PBS.

Huh? I didn’t know they cleaned house on Jan 1. I always thought the dates were random whenever their contracts ran out.

Yeah I was about halfway through season 10. If I would have known it was going away at the end of the year, I would have made an effort to finish up sooner. :frowning:

Grrr! I don’t know that all the streaming licenses expire on Jan 1, I’m just extrapolating from a data point of one. Maybe I just got unlucky with one show I was watching. But it would be nice to know ahead of time that a show’s license is running out.

That is the site to check were things are streaming. I have linked to the US version, though you can change to your own country if you live elsewhere.

Ugh, looks like Doctor Who is now going to something called HBO Max.

These stupid streaming wars will end up costing just as much as before cord cutting.
