I don’t see what the big deal is. A conference on global warming that starts off with a little central heating? Brilliantly apropos if you ask me.
God, guys. Way to be enormous poops about everything.
I just got back from the NDP convention and I have to say it would have been quite the thing if there had been a burlesque show on that particular conference floor. Call it the Nude Democrats or something.

Real adult professional humans are withdrawing their bid over a conference entertainment show? I mean if they had a vacuum on reverse blowing feces onto the audience I understand, but a dance act…?
There’s waaay too many prigs still about in the world.
Wow, this is the type of thing I thought only happened here in the states. At least we’re not the only country full of self-righteous tight asses. These people seriously need to get a life.
I don’t think it’s what it was that was offensive, so much as it was inappropriate for the forum. I’m not sure how I’d react if I went to a conference and someone put this kind of act on, but I sure wouldn’t expect it! Apart from anything else, I guess, it’s not solemn enough for a serious event…
It could be worse. They could have opened with Carrot Top.
45 minutes? Was this the Swan Lake of burlesque? Who wants to watch…and I say this as a devout fan of women in their underwear…a single dance routine for forty-five minutes?
Where do they even find a 45-minute musical number? A medley of Alice’s Restaurant and American Pie?
Are they sure attendees walked out in protest? Maybe they just lost interest and went home to feed the dog or something.
Sailboat
Oh man, that is cracking me up way more than it should.
“And now we will break with a very special presentation.” VWHIRRRRRRRRRRRR
And they sit for 10 minutes in righteous indignation before politely walking out in quiet outrage.
But yeah, wow, way to overreact. I can understand being confused or a little put off, but to be appalled is a bit much.
All they need was a 1 slide Power Point presentation

That’s been in the news here for several days. Even the PM felt it necessary to put in his two bobs’ worth.
I don’t know how tacky it was but I’ve certainly been to professional conferences where the “entertainment” has been very questionable and some of the delegates have walked out.
I have to laugh at both sides. The prudes who walked out and complained about a harmless burlesque show, and the organizers who thought this might go over well in the first place.
I loved the PM’s comment:
"My reaction is well, probably not appropriate, but I’m not going to list it for discussion at the next meeting of the national security committee," Prime Minister John Howard told the Southern Cross Broadcasting network.
