Strong, healthy sperm. Can I help in any way?

Hi all,

My partner and I are very interested in having a child.

There is a great deal of information available on what a woman should do and not due before and during pregnancy re. vitamins, health, what to eat/avoid, etc.

Does anyone know what a man should do to increase sperm production and increase the likelihood that the little guys will be as strong and healthy as possible? Alternatively, do you know of any good online resources in this area? I’ve done some research and much of what I’m seeing are ads for various herbal supplements.

Pics will be posted should it all work out as planned

Thanks,

NobleBaron

Ok, now I’ve found scads of information on “male fertility” - I was using the wrong keywords. :smack:

If anyone has anything they’d like to suggest or share, I would still love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Temperature is apparently a big deal. You might stay out of hot tubs for a while.

Yep. Boxers, not briefs.

When we were having trouble conceiving, our doctor told us that it was probably a good idea for me to stay away from excessive alcohol consumption. Not that that was ever a problem, but he said every little bit helps. I’m a guy BTW, in case that wasn’t obvious.

(obligitory reference to the Tale Of Sammy The Sperm.)

If you ride a bicycle at all regularly, do make sure you have one of the seats that don’t affect testicular circulation. I’m sorry I’m not able to give references, but I have read it fairly recently in a reputable source (i.e., not in some website with a product or whatever to push). But do get regular, reasonable exercise.

And eat healthy. Not to say you can’t have any junk food, but I’d avoid anything that has more unpronounceable words than not in the ingredients, especially nitrites and sulfites. Take at least a daily multivitamin. If you have one or more supplements that you already take, google for any research on their real or potential effects on the body (not just fertility, as most research on supplements isn’t geared specifically to it).

And best of luck to you and your partner!
