Not a Vs thread per se, but a standard crossover. SG1 vs Several Federation ships probably wouldn’t be likely, but say a few Federation ships managed to find themselves in the SG universe. How much of an advantage would they add? The ships themselves might not be much use unless they were retrofitted with the clearly superior hyperspace generators, but the technology might be beneficial, or would it?
Goa’uld technology seems pretty up to par with Federation from what I can gather, though I may be wrong.
Then again, having Prometheus didn’t really seem to help the humans very much. Everybody with a spitball shooter seems to puch through their shields like it is nothing, and it recently was destroyed. Asgard supposedly had this superior tech, but it seems everybody else has it too. Is Federation technology more powerful than Asgard? (Aside form ultra-hyperdrive, I realize that they have seemingly instantanious travel)
I’m sure that dilithium crystals would prove much more effective (or at least plentiful) than ZPMs.
The Federation seems to have better sheild and weapons technology.
Would it violate the treaty with the Romulans if they retrofitted a starship (well, okay maybe just a Jump–I mean shuttlecraft) with an Atlantis cloak?
One thing’s for sure. When they pass out sidearms, I’ll take a Zat over a Federation phaser any day of the year. Zats always do exactly what they’re supposed to do, unlike a certain other handheld weapon.
Definately true. ZPMs seem pretty weak sources of power in comparison. Of course I haven’t seen a ZPM have to be shot out to avoid a melt down or anything like D-Crystals. Worthwhile trade off though
Well, the staff weapons are bad ideas IMO, too bulky for fast zapping action. The Zat guns are good too, as diceman so truthfully stated. hand held weapons wise, I think they are pretty equal. (though SG-1 has projectile weapons which seem to work pretty good in many situations) Ship to ship weapons, on the otherhand, are harder to tell, because ship to ship fighting doesn’t allow much in the way of comparison. One zaps the other shield and it lights up. Shield goes down 10%, etc. Damage to unshielded ships, planets, or planetary targets seems to be pretty equivilant. (minus the Genesis bomb and the like- not something outfitted on every ship though)
The Asgard would be one of those godlike superbeings that the Enterprise is always running into. Remember, when the Goa’uld landed on a protected planet, the Asgard came to the rescue (from another galaxy!!!) and disintegrated the entire Goa’uld mothership. They would totally outclass the Federation.
The Federation could probably take on anybody else, however. Just don’t let O’Neil call Thor for help, or the Enterprise will be royally screwed
I’d say Federation vs. Goa’uld, the Federation cleans up. No contest. Goa’uld shields wouldn’t last long against a chipper Federation engineer constantly rotating their phaser modulation, etc.
Federation vs. SG-1 Asgard equipped Prometheus class ship, close call. But I give it to the Federation. They both seem to lose their hyperdrive & weapons everytime a fly hits their shields, but the Federation seems better at getting things back online quicker.
Federation vs. a regular Asgard vessel would be interesting. How long did it take Voyager to get 1/4 the way across the galaxy? How long does it take the Asgard to get from one galaxy to another?
How about Borg vs. Replicator? Ooh, some nasty stuff going on there, and I don’t wanna mess with whatever emerges victorious, unless I’ve got some Ascended Ones & Ori on my side. But then again, the Federation could always call up some Q. Yikes.
I don’t think the Borg and the Replicators would fight. They’d just kind of converge. But yeah, anyway you look at that, it wouldn’t bode well for the universe.
