I think they overplayed their hand on the cud chewing.
Yeah, when Kripke asked if the waiter was trying to fatten them up I thought it was going there.
The cud chewing got disgusting pretty quickly. We get it! Ew.
Wasn’t crazy about this episode, but I did find it funny to see what a fancy restaurant would look like if we were ruminants.
I thought it was interesting that they didn’t use forks or other tools to eat.
If this show is being shown on HBO, why am I starting to see it on TBS? I’m not complaining - I just watched the first two episodes. However, I’m not seeing any more of them coming up.
TBS is part of Warner Bros Discovery.
If you want more episodes you have to sign up for HBO Max. This is a marketing technique that was pioneered by heroin dealers.
Still waiting…
The gags are funny but the premises of each world they visit are just pulled out of a hat. The hidden messages and doppelgängers are pretty thin gruel for a larger arc. If this was a comic book, all of the episodes would be considered “one & done”.
I haven’t watched this week’s episode yet but I see that it’s only 15 minutes long. With opening and ending credits, that’s not nearly enough.
And ten minutes of that was people mumbling random ear worms.
I started the new episode just after 9pm Eastern time, and then as it ended and the closing credits started, it was only 9:18pm. So yes, very short. I enjoyed it, though. Perhaps this sort of show is best binged a season at a time?
By the way, when they were talking about a way to shield their thoughts, I thought they were going to make literal tinfoil hats, especially after Stuart mentioned Magneto’s helmet.
And would those who grew up in this universe learn how to control what people could hear?
BTW, as they were chasing the second group through multiple parallel universes (all of which were, I think, ones we’ve seen previously), we very briefly saw someone being burned at the stake in the magic universe. It was too quick for me to see who it was but one recap said it was Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The new episode didn’t even show up on my HBO account until Friday afternoon. I don’t know what the hell is going on with that.
I saw it on Max on the Roku box at 9pm yesterday.

It was indeed.

I didn’t recognize it was him until I saw his name in the closing credits.
It’ a shame it was only fifteen minutes, but there were a lot of visual effects in this episode, so maybe they made the decision to cut a lot of potentially expensive stuff out.
I think they loaded up on the sets for the first few episodes to draw a loyal audience and then planned for one-universe shows like the previous two to save money. They probably shot the scenes of them running through the other universes we’ve seen then. My hope is that they’ll use up the rest of the budget for the last three, all blow-outs.

After six episodes I’ve decided SFTSTU is half SCTV, half Bob Hope/Bing Crosby road movie. You have a core group of the same characters playing different roles (the SCTV part) placed in colorful exotic locations where they keep getting in trouble with the natives (the road movie.) And the same supporting actors (Dorothy Lamour) keep showing up.
Of course the plots are thin and the gags dominate the story. But as I noted upthread, Quantum Leap (the first version) lasted five seasons and 33 episodes (second version) with even less of an ongoing storyline.
