Well with a new year started I feel I should find another crazy Wendy’s issue to stick myself with and share it with all of you. Originally I had planned on posting this in the BBQ pit but now that I have calmed down I feel less like ranting and more into trying to understand the situation. So here goes…
The setting: Wendy’s (downtown Montreal)
The Players: * “T” (my best friend and a fellow Manager
* " L" (Crew member who hates “T”)
* “N” (My roommate who works with me)
* Me
* “M” ( a slob of a crew that drives me nuts)
The Situation:
*“T” arrives at work (she is the opening manager and arrives before everyone else) opens her locker and finds that someone from the shift the night before has dumped a load of pepper in her locker.
*Now I arrive to pick her up at 3pm for the gym and she tells me what happened. Of course she is upset and asks me who worked the night before. I tell her and we debate who could have done such a thing. Our conclusions lead us to : “L” (who wasn’t working and spend 3 hours unsupervised in the store while he waited for his girlfriend to finish her shift,) “N” (who spent an hour with “L” unsupervised,) and “M” (who was in the crew room for 15 minutes with other crew.)
*I didn’t “through any stones” so to speak because I wanted to talk to them before blaming anyone but “T” chose to call our boss, who was closing that night, to see what he had found out. Now this phone call soon turned into a yelling match between “T” and “N” as well as our boss.
- “L” called me tonight and, after clearing a few things up, we came to a mutual agreement that this wasn’t between us and that it would not affect our work relationship. He was at first glance my prime suspect but after speaking to him I am not so sure anymore but on the other hand I can not see “N” doing this either. And as for “M” god only knows what goes on in his head.
The dilemma(s):
- My personal feelings scream “find the asshole and rip his head off!” But my work reasoning tells me to deal with this diplomatically (which means leaving this be.)
- I feel if this goes unpunished it will happen again. There is a big problem of crew not respecting managers and I feel like they need to be shown that vandalizing a managers (or anyone else for that matter) belongings is not going to be tolerated.
So that is the excitement of my work place. I don’t have a clue in hell where this is going to go. I trust “T” more then anyone there and I know how upset she is. I want to help her but at the same time I want to be as professional as possible. “L” and I plan on talking about this on his shift Thursday. If he did do it he definitely can lie better then anyone I know. If he didn’t, well I’m afraid to find out who did. All I can say is that I am sick of all this bullshit… someone save me.
