I particularly like “Threatening to move to Canada.”
Just about everyone I know has done this.
I’ll share this blog with them.

The blogger failed to include NASCAR, Country music, fishing trips, gun collections, pickup trucks, The Left Behind books, Civil war re-enactments, deer season, Jesus fish car ornaments, “support our troops” yellow ribbons, and the Republican Party.

Those people aren’t really white.

Everyone you know votes democrat, don’t they. Yeah, when we moved back there for a while I soon realized being a republican in MA is kind of like being the only gay eskimo in your tribe…
The list of rap songs was hysterical - and pretty accurate. Most of those songs were very popular with kids I went to school with. But not the Humpty Dance.
I personally liked: “Knowing what’s best for poor people.”
OMG, that site owns me; I’m the whitest guy on the planet (except for bottled water, but I swear if tap water doesn’t improve I’m moving to Canada).

Being a gay Eskimo sucks, you don’t even want to think about where you rub your nose.
Bumping this because yesterday’s entry fits well with the love for The Wire that swept CS and spawned a pit thread.

Yeah, that site reminds of the Facebook group: I may LOOK like a minority, but I’m Whiter than you are. Of which I am proudly a member.

I knew that was just a Margaret Cho disguise. Take it off and become Sally Fields like the rest of us! ![]()

Not true. Some of my best friends are Republicans…

And what is it with the New-York times crowd and their fascination with French? Is it worth going to the trouble of learning such a capricious language merely as a symbol of wealth and sophistication?

Read some older novels that are considered kind of high-brow/pretentious (e.g. Nabakov). This is, by no means, a new phenomenon.
ETA: As far as that site goes, waay too much of it rings true. People have always told me that I was far too white, and this confirms it.
Wow - I am so, so white!
Where is this list of rap songs? I can’t seem to find it.
I’ve done this exact thing with my uber-white, Prius-driving friend.
I’ve seen a lot of the stuff on the list in myself and others around me.
Our kitchenaid mixer was actually the man’s idea. He’s all proud of it, but hasn’t actually used it yet. I’d have been happy with any brand that had matching utility, but am missing the “look what we can afford” vibe and instead am all geeked we got a great deal on it.
Are we beige?
I’m confused… is this a list of what white people like, or a list of what white hipsters like?
Either way, I’m guilty guilty guilty.
Also, the photo included with the entry on running away to Canada looks like it could’ve been shot from the balcony of my friends’ apartment (who incidentally, are a couple of white vegetarian post-grad students). Coincidence? I think not. I’m doubly amused.
Yes, I’m a multilingual child who likes Mos Def and indie music, and who lives whose renovated house full of vintage modern furniture and assorted kitchen gadgets is in a gentrified neighbourhood (you don’t get more gentrified than reformed crackhouse, son). So there.
Saturday before last, my girlfriend and I went to a yoga class in the morning, had breakfast at First Watch, and then did some grocery shopping next door at Whole Foods. The next day, we had breakfast over the New York Times.
Damn, I’m white.
The site seems to describe about half the population of the Denver, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle metropolitan areasto a capital T. For my old hometown, Buffalo, there’s maybe 3% tops that lead the “white” lifestyle.
Then again, Buffalonians are whiter than most about one quality; they’re practically obsessive-compulsive about “authenticity”. A blog thread about “should Whole Foods come to Buffalo” that was posted last year had a close-to-unanimous response of “No way! They cater to pretentious yuppies! They’re not authentic, genuine, honest and real!” from those that commented. Talk to a typical Buffalonian, and they’ll have you convinced that their city is the last bastion of authenticity in the country, with the world beyond being fake, plastic, sanitized, and corporate.
I think I’m more a milky beige. I’m on the third page and I’ve found only a few hits: Bad Memories of High School, Natural Medicine and Expensive Sandwiches (seriously, have you tried the Chicken Pomodori at Corner Bakery? OMG!).
Oh, wait, there’s Kitchen-Aids on there? Guilty. But it wasn’t purchased by me, and it’s like 70 years old, so does that still count? What about the fact that I’m *proud *that it wasn’t purchased by me, and it’s like 70 years old and still running? Is that a white thing?

Holy shit. I’m black!
Can somebody please point me to a forum, or at least a thread around here where ignorance is being fought?
