Stuff you loved that was discontinued.

In Canada we had Hostess potato chips. I especially liked the Sour Cream and Onion.

Manual transmissions. Yes they could be a royal pain in the ass, and automatics do things much better, but… I learned to drive in a manual. They seem to be pretty much gone.

Taco Bell’s Encherito. Yes, the whole resterant chain had perhaps 8 ingediants. But damn, those where good.

when I was 14 I had my first girlfriend and my buddy suggested I give her a bottle of that for Xmas, She loved it!

Ambush!

Car and Driver published a list of every new car you can still buy with a manual transmission in the US, although it’s from 2024 so it’s probably not up to date. They’re pretty much all performance oriented cars. Manuals are no longer the base option on ordinary cars, now they’re a niche option for enthusiasts that often requires you to upgrade to the sporty trim level. The Nissan Versa was the only car on the list that actually had a manual on the base model, but Nissan discontinued the Versa in the US market after 2025 (I told you, the list is out of date).

Yeah I kinda just miss it a little. And my next car will likely be full electric so it’s sort of a moot point. I will need something that I can haul two medium sized dogs around though.

My wife and I havn’t really thought about it much as we don’t need any new cars. Though there was a '57 totally rebuilt Chevy Bellaire I was drooling over. They stuck a 350 in it with a 5 speed on the floor. Totaly redone. New interior. I want it.
