Greek Gods recently discontinued their pomegranate yogurt. Dang! That was my favorite flavor of theirs.
I grrew up using a hairbrush i desperately would love to find again. Plastic bristles like a hard toothbrush no blob on the end. It went through my thick wavy to curly hair, didnt rip it out and stimulated my scalp without scratching. The bristly bit was just a 4 inch long formed into a sort of wedge of bristles, not rounded or paddle shape, and a slightly early ergonomic handle that had a squished out flat area as a sort of thumb grip.
I just thought of another one. When I was kid(in the 80s) one cracker company used to sell saltines as big square that was scored and could be broken into 4 of the regular size saltines everyone sells now. I miss those big saltines; I used to spread peanut butter on them to make a peanut butter saltine sandwich. Anyone else remember them?
You can still get those, although they’re not easy to find.
I miss Merri-mints. So nice and creamy . . .
I understand versions of it are still produced here and there, particularly at the Vermont Country Store, but there seems to be vigorous debate online about whether or not they really taste like the original or not.
apparently, hairbrushes are polarizing! My fave brush, the ONLY acceptable one, has metal bristles. I have 3 at this time and will go buy a couple more soon, just in case. I have been known to do repairs on my brushes.
Hairbrushes are serious business.
My research leads me to the fact that TEAM flakes were a Nabisco product. Nabisco seems to have discontinued them in the 1990s (possibly in 1994, when they sold their breakfast cereal line - primarily Shredded Wheat - to Kraft). Kraft subsequently folded all breakfast cereals in their portfolio into their Post Cereals brand. So people who yearn for the return of TEAM flakes should probably lobby the “just a little bit better” folks at Post.
I thought that was the Lifebuoy shower/bath bar (YouTube doesn’t seem to have it though).
Yes, I do. I got them at grandma’s house and at the daycare I was warehoused at after school. They were served with Kool-Aid heavily sweetened with sugar and saccharine. It always made me mad when some twerp would spill the Kool-Aid on the table ruining my crackers which would instantly turn into a disgusting pink sludge.
I think they were Sunshine brand. White box with blue text.
I think they still sell them at Walgreens. As of a few months ago they did anyways, at least in Massachusetts…
I have had the same hair brush since 9th grade. It is natural bristled on some kinda of man made handle. I would kill for this hairbrush. Both of my daughters have tried to swipe it. I once left it in a hotel room and drove 1 hour back to go get it. Nobody better touch it. I am serious.
ETA oh, I forget the brand. It came in a gift set I got for christmas.
I am late to the discussion but my insomnia has made me nostalgic for:
Frosted Grape Pop-tarts
Jumbles- this was a boxed brownie mix that you mixed and baked yourself. It was a mixture of an oatmeal cookie and a chocolate brownie and every time my Mom would make them I would eat more than my fair share.
Spudnut Doughnuts- These are the best donuts on the planet because they use potato flour rather than wheat flour and it makes them light and fluffy and gluten free. My hometown had a family owned shop that specialized in making them and when the owners retired the whole town was devastated. (This was late 80s early 90s). Fortunately, a couple of years ago a bakery in Lubbock started making them and they are exactly how I remember them!
Chicken Tonight Sauce- This was a seasoning sauce for chicken that not only tasted fantastic but had a catchy jingle. The commercials were hilarious because people would sing the jingle and flap their arms like a chicken and it never failed to make me laugh. Sometimes when I’m asked what I’d like for supper I’ll respond:
I feel like chicken tonite! Chicken Tonite!
It never fails to elicit eye rolls and impudence…lol.
Ragu brand Italian Cooking Sauce.
Bright brand cigarettes (more peppermint than menthol).
Both gone by the early '90s.
Anyone remember the soft drink Rondo? (“Slam it Down!”)
And another one: Slice.
mmm
I think Spudnut was a chain. I went to one regularly in college in the sixties and my roommate said he had worked in a different location previously. I agree the donuts were good.
Large saltines was the standard when I was a kid, the fifties. I even remember Arthur Godfrey joking on his radio show about how easy life was becoming because one could now buy crackers that came already broken. What a concept.
KFC’s Chicken littles. They were sliders for a buck.
Someone mentioned Burger King’s Chicken Parm sandwich. I’ve seen that one come back for limited engagements from time to time.
I miss Chef Boy Ar Dee sausage pizza mix, I know they were awful but I loved them.
I miss these too. My husband used to call them chicken cookies.
There used to be an orange flavored Gatorade energy bar. I was apparently the only one in the city who liked them.
Doritos Tacos at Midnight was the best flavor they ever had bar none.
There was a vodka cocktail called Raw Spirit Mix that I drank back when I was allergic to beer.
Anyone remember that vanilla long-cut dip tobacco Skoal used to make? Tasted like purest ambrosia. Although I’ve quit dipping, I can tell you that stuff was excellent.
