Stuff you loved that was discontinued.

As a child of the 90’s I very much miss P.B. Crisps.

I miss the old Sheaffer fountain cartridge pens. Ever since Bic bought Sheaffer, they’ve been tweaking the offerings, and fiddling with the ink. I want the old purple ink, dammit, in the old cartridges that were nearly clear, so that I could SEE when I was getting low on ink. The new style cartridges are opaque, and the ink seems to dry out in the cartridge more quickly.

Thanks for the link. I can’t WAIT for Fall so I can start wearing the little I still have.

I thought of another thing, I know one of those guys who don’t like change. They buy the same brand forever and ever and then there’s anguish when they don’t make it any more. Bic single blade shavers disappeared (I know they still have the single blade ‘sensitive’ in the yellow package). He asked me to see if they were still sold anywhere, and I think I found a case on Amazon. Occasionally I’ll see the original in a dollar store somewhere. I think the Bic original single blade disposable razors are now sold only overseas. (I also think it’s a plot to make everyone buy the grossly overpriced new things, with quintuple-blades or built in shave cream or what the hell ever. They weren’t making any money when the cheapie single blades were around.) And this concludes my diatribe, thanks for your patience.

While I converted to the Mach 3 many years ago, I still use the Bic Metal single blade for adjusting and straightening the sideburns area. The multi-blades don’t provide enough precision to get length and straightness just right. I recently ordered a 60-pack for $20, which should last me at least 2 years:

Plus, they’re thinner than the old Bics and current Sensitive version, so it’s easier to get into those hard-to-reach spots

The new cartridges are harder to peirce, also. I want the purple back, too!

Yep, I see these all the time. We should start a “discontinued stuff” exchange… it seems like a lot of regions still carry things not found in other parts of the world.

Cheetos Cheesy Checkers. Gods, those were good. I discovered the least messy way of eating them: use chopsticks.

Giant Sweetarts. Not the horrible chewy things they have now, but real Sweetarts – the convex on both sided type – scaled up to about 2" in diameter. They came 2 in a package, cost about the same as a candy bar, and there was no biting them. You pretty much had to lick them to soften them a little and gnaw them down gradually. They were wonderful and I hated it when they went away.

When I was in college there was an outlet type store that had a snack called “Bully! Barley”. (Yes, with an exclamation point.) It came in a sack with a caricature of Teddy Roosevelt on it (of course). I can’t find any pictures of it, but I did find some evidence that I didn’t just imagine it here. Everything that store had was closeouts, so when they were gone, they were gone. I enjoyed them while they lasted.

Victoria’s Secret Tahitian Vanilla Flower body lotion. Loved it and now it’s gone :frowning:

Betty Crocker microwave cake.

I couldn’t think of this in my last post-microwaveable Steak Ums sandwiches (preassembled). (Do you see a pattern here?)

Whoa, thanks for this! I had no idea they’d added grapefruit flavor. I’ve been searching forever for an unsweetened grapefruit flavor for my seltzer. Their other flavors are good.

I’m going to stock up before it’s discontinued.

I just discovered today that they brought it back, but now I’m wondering whether I want to spend $28 on foundation again. I’d have to try it in person, as I think my level of paleness has changed again.

I also loved the Wendy’s pitas-- they were super tasty on a hot day.

I remember my mom bringing me a chicken pita and a large tea one day when I was putting on a yard sale for her. That was at least 15 years ago, and I still remember how refreshing it was, out there in the Florida heat.

I also miss the microwavable cakes! They were so easy, and very good while they were still warm. I also used the heck out of Saran Quick Covers. They were discontinued, but luckily Dollar Tree has a cheaper version that works just as well.

McDonald’s Chicken Fajitas, used to cost about a buck. Onions, green peppers, cheese, and shredded marinated chicken in a flour tortilla. My god, they were good. I’ve never had any, anywhere, half so good. Tried making them, no go. Gone! :frowning:

Wow; Coke Blak is one of the only beverages I’ve ever tasted that I found completely, absolutely unpalatable. Ultimate case of different strokes, apparently.

So many things I wouldn’t know where to start. My friends worry when I like something too much that they like as well, knowing that my preference for it is the kiss of death.

Cuban Lunch (you must be Canadian to know this). A good approximation is the Whittaker’s Peanut Slab, for those down under.

Shake a Puddin, Danish go Rounds, and Space Food Sticks are my big 3.

You guys are reminding me of some of my list… Jack in the Box, about 20 years ago, made some really tasty gyros. I was crushed when they went away.

And Qadgop reminded me of Whip n’ Chill! LOVED that, my mom loved it. Especially the lemon flavor, which she would add extra lemon to…and I just found that Jello still makes the stuff! Just not lemon.

There was also something else that was very 60’s space-age food: you mixed it up, then it would separate into three distinct layers: a kind of true gelatin on the bottom, a fluffier gelatin in the middle, and then almost pure gel-foam on the top. Anyone remember the name of that?
