I’m playing Spooks over at BBC.com. I can’t get past the Defusing exercise in the academy. I was wondering if someone wanted to take a shot at it and give me tips! If you don’t want to register yourselves, you can log in as me with

…of course, if you do log in as me, it saves your gameplay under my screen name and then I can just steal your blood, sweat and tears to bypass the fiendish phase! Not that I’m asking for that… no.
To get to the exercise I’m talking about, click on the computer screen, the Spy Academy folder, and then Defuse.
Yep, I think that’s basically how to do it, too. Problem is – I can’t seem to do it! My short-term memory dies around the fourth series. I was wondering if there’s maybe a “trick” to it – tried numbering the circles 1-4 and then writing it down, but it’s timed and there’s not enough leeway for that.
I’ve labeled the dots 1 through 4 and as the pattern is shown, i say the numbers out loud along with it, and say it aloud again as i’m clicking the pattern. Plus, i change my tone of voice between each number, so it almost comes out like a song.
I just succeeded, and the sequence went for 11 “dots” … i think (i wrote it down right after i won).
But once you successfully complete the sequence, you have to cut a wire (you only have one chance). I cut the wrong wire twice. The first time i cut the wire that happened to be the first “dot” in the sequence (purely by accident as the wire cutting was unexpected and time was running). The second time i cut the wire that was the last “dot” in the sequence.
The third time, when i succeeded, the sequence was 1 4 3 4 3 4 1 2 3 4 1, and i chose the second (yellow) wire. I’m not sure if it was because the second “dot” was the next in sequence, or that it was the one seen the least in that sequence. Or maybe it’s random … who knows?
Huh, when I did it all the lights and numbers turned red when I had finished the sequence. I clipped the corresponding colored wire, and it defused. I would test it out a few more times, if I had a better “system” than to keep trying untill I got an easy sequence.
The safecracker is just a game of Mastermind. Buttons under the icons to arrange a combination, then the big button under the PDA to submit. Feedback on the right, legend on the bottom of the screen.
These guys sure are picky. Any idea how sexy our scores need to be before they let us (err, I mean you) progress? I have a feeling the 58% on the defuse test is holding me back, but can’t seem to improve it further. The wirecutting is definitely based on the color of the lights, but I just can’t do it fast enough. Tried resorting to wordpad always on top, but it just slowed me down further for some reason. This is starting to bug me…
