apparently if you are very nearsighted you can’t get the nifty multifocal lenses. Because they don’t make them strong enough, most manufacturers don’t go above -8 and the stongest I found online was -10. I need -12. I guess I should be happy that I can still get regular ones. 
Have you tried monovision instead of multifocal?
none of the Optomitrists I have seen recommend this. Possibly it is my particular prescription but I have asked and they tell me that it would mess with my depth perception too much.
My optometrist said that she doesn’t really recommend the multi-focal contacts because most of her patients who have tried them aren’t satisfied with their vision correction with them.
I have medium myopia and the multifocals are terrific for me although it took a lot of trial and error to find the right brand/prescription. The technology is improving by leaps and bounds so hopefully they’ll have something that will work for you soon, adhemar.
