It’s already happening. Wonderfalls has been moved to Thursday night after only 3 weeks on Friday. And it’s up against The Donald. Grrr.
Why can’t Fox just leave well enough alone?

Plus it’s right after “Tru Calling,” in which an unseen force dispatches the main character to do weird tasks instead of talking animals. What a great move!
Wasn’t it predicted in a previous thread that Fox would place it either before or after Tru Calling?
sigh
On a lighter note, I loved last night’s episode.
Whereas previously it was right after Joan of Arcadia, in which God despatches the main character to do weird tasks instead of talking animals. Tru Calling differs more from Wonderfalls than JoA does, I’m told.
I can just hear FOX execs: “Why don’t the people watch our shows? It seems to have no audience. We’ve tried all these times and days but no one watches. Say… is Paris Hilton still available?”
Last night’s was fun. It had the mother of all lines. I liked the back room scene with the mother (the way it ended, heh!).
Lesbian porn channel!
Yes, you’re right, I guess that, on the seriousness scale, “Tru” is high, “Joan” is medium and “Wonderfalls” is low. So it’s not a completely lateral move, it’s the most minimal kind of positive move. But surely FOX could have found somewhere else to put “Wonderfalls” other than the one place where it isn’t being hurt by a show ON THE SAME NETWORK!
I’m not even sure why I’m getting worked up over the fate of “Wonderfalls.” I don’t particularly dig it – given a choice last night, I watched “CSI” instead. I suppose I’m a sucker for the underdog.
I suppose if FOX were ever inclined, the crossover possibilities are tempting, and having the two shows right next to each other makes that very convenient! Jaye from “Wonderfalls” could be dispatched on the orders of a talking squid to go complete a mission in whatever town “Tru” is set in, only she gets killed doing so. She is wheeled into Tru’s morgue, and Tru then sets about trying to keep Jaye from getting killed. Then Jaye, on the orders of a talking raccoon, seduces Tru and they have hours of hot lesbian sex.
Um, I mentioned the schedule change last week.
I’ve been taping Wonderfalls anyway, so this doesn’t affect me too much. it’s the confusion they’re causing to the viewer that sucks.
It’s not only Fox though, I read at this board that Kingdom Hospital is moving to Thursday nights too. (Which will actually be more convienent for me if they keep the 9:00 time slot.)
Well crap, according to the Kingdom Hospital website, it’s up against Wonderfalls on Thursday.
According to Lisa de Moraes at the WashPost (from whence I get all my television news and gossip), this is actually a good move for Wonderfalls. When they showed it on Friday, and then repeated the Friday episode the following Thursday, it actually got better numbers on the Thursday airing. So, they’re moving it to Thursday because it’s more successful there.
I’ve watched it twice and don’t care for it at all. Maybe that’s been the majority response.
Heh, I’ll probably keep watching it if they keep it against the Apprentice. I hate that f’n show.
I’m pretty happy with the move: I was feeling like a traitor to my comrades for watching The Apprentice, anyway :). Friday night is a shitty slot for a show geared toward a twentysomething crowd.
Last night’s had some of my favorite lines so far. “I’m just a Christmas and Easter Jew” had me rolling on the floor. The show is still a little shaky, but some of the dialogue is just brilliant. “Your wife was on the phone. I told her you were servicing me sexually. Was that inappropriate?” hee!
And Jaye is just dreamy, so that doesn’t hurt either.
Let’s hope it doesn’t get cancelled before it finds its feet.
Daniel
I hate Fox - I don’t know why they continue to do this to us. They should just stop tempting us with great shows only to cancel them because they screw with the time slots, the sequence of episodes and lack of advertising. Meanwhile, they air their Reality shows twice a week and advertise them up the wahoo!
I don’t know why they don’t stop toying with me and just declare themselves All Reality, All The Time.
That line had me in hysterics also. It was quite an internal debate with myself about which I wanted to use a sig. Especially since I am a Christmas and Easter Jew!*
In my case it means that I’m technically jewish (my mother was, and was raised with a fair amount of religion), but my mother raised me without any religion and for some reason we always celebrated Christmas and I got Easter baskets and egg hunts.
“I destroy you.” <splash> truly great.
I loved how they didn’t go the typical “she ends up with the Marine, her long-sufering unrequited love” route and instead sent up that whole convention.
Someone was monkeying around with my doorbell right at the end of the show so I missed what happened with the husband. I saw him in the neck brace then had to leave the room until the start of the scene with Jaye and her dad. Someone spoil me please?
FOX has also put “Playing it Straight” on hiatus until sometime this summer. Not quite sure of the strategy there…wait until everyone who cared has forgotten about it then slap up the last 3 or 4 episodes?
:: sigh :: Wonderfalls is surely doomed, since (a) it’s a good show, (b) i’m quickly learning to love it, (c) it’s on FOX, and (d) FOX suits wouldn’t know how to hang on to a winner if it handcuffed itself to their arms.
so many, many wonderful lines in one little half-hour. if we said it once to each other, we must have said it at least four times last night: “Well, I never saw THAT coming!”
and Otto, if you’re so inclined:
Gretchen’s husband meets the female EMT as he finishes putting on his neckbrace. she removes helmet to reveal long dark hair, with obligatory model-type locks-blowing-in-the-wind effects. they do a quick photo-type montage-- their wedding pictures, her very-pregnant self next to him, them holding their firstborn, additional siblings on a continuing basis, his increasing Orthodoxy, the Whole Clan spread, their Old Age group picture with the grandkids. basically, the Happily Ever After that you’re expecting Gretchen and The Marine to be heading for, with Hava Nagila (sp?) as background music.
and i just about died when they showed the fireworks in the bar guy’s eyes after Jaye told him about slamming his wife. this show is totally whacked in the best possible way.
Wha??? Huh? I missed it! Oh no. Must have blanked on the schedule change. I didn’t really like the nun episode, but it sounds like I missed a decent one last night. Arggh…
I almost missed the schedule change, too – they only mentioned it in the last half of the last sentence in the previews last week. I was getting up to turn the TV off when the announcer mentioned the schedule change, and had my wife not heard it, I would’ve had no idea, and would’ve been watching The Apprentice last night
Yeah, you missed a good one. Sorry!
Daniel
This show caught my attention when I happened to hear Andy Partridge singing the title song as I was flipping around. Shocked that any show would want him doing its theme song I hung around - and I loved it!
My favorite line from last night was the part about Jaye being the butt puppet of the universe.
Well, they sure gave it a chance on the new night, didn’t they?
