Worth reading every single incident listed. All the way to the bottom. Want stupid? Stupid is the stunning number of people killed and injured with guns in the United States on ONE day.
The Title of this thread invites this level of fact presentation.
Actually, if you look at the sources, it’s at least two days (Monday and Tuesday). I don’t think this diminishes your point, but I also think it’s better to be careful in your claims.
Roddy
all this just makes me shake my head. I am a liberal and a gun owner. I enjoy hunting and target shooting. My concealed carry permit and weapon has saved my life once (hyper aggressive doberman which had escaped its yard.) That being said, I also have kids. every gun I own is kept in two gun safes. yes two. Every gun is disassembled into two pieces and each piece is kept in a different safe. They only come out when I am going to the range or going hunting. I only purchase ammo when I am going to use it, and then, I only purchase the amount needed. Also, even when in a state of partial disassembly, every firearm has a trigger lock on it. Even the points for my hunting arrows stay locked in a gun safe. There is no excuse for not keeping one’s weapon’s as safe and secure as possible to reduce the possibility of an accident to its lowest. Now as for the people who insist on carrying their weapons openly displayed…these people are the reason I feel that every retail location which sells firearms should have a urologist on staff to provide a pre-purchase exam, and the weapons you can purchase are directly proportional to the size of your genitalia. So many of these idiots use their guns as a metapenis. No kidding, I have gone up to men who are openly carrying and expressed my condolences about the insecurity over the size of their penis.
Do you then whip out your concealed-carry permit and do their heads assplode? Because that would be cool.
A non-judgemental question (I just like knives): How close was the dog when you chose to be threatening back at it? A gun seems to be potentially dangerous to bystanders up to a mile away if you miss or even hit a thin part of the dog, while a knife would be safer for others and could be used repeatedly with the dog on top of you. Plus a knife fight with a dog would make a better story.
the dog started charging about 25 feet or so away. I popped 2 glazer safety slugs into it. My CCW, on the rare occurrences I feel compelled to carry it, is always loaded with frangible rounds. Glazers won’t even go through two layers of sheet rock. Also, firing at a downward angle puts any potential stray rounds in the ground.
No, it’s legit. Frangible rounds are bullets that are designed to break into pieces once they hit their target, so that they’re very unlikely to overpenetrate. Less likely to go through apartment walls for example.
Y’know what’s really sad? Less-lethal rounds are still more legally problematic than even glazers/frangibles–last time I asked about it the consensus was that people would get stupid ideas that “less” meant “non” and pull the trigger with less justification rather than for any good reasons.
Don’t you think you are overdoing it a bit on the gun safety? If it bothers you to keep them at home that much then don’t keep them at home. I’m sure there are lockers at one of the gun ranges near you. What you are doing is more than just belt and suspenders.
And arrowheads? Are they significantly more dangerous than the knife you have in your kitchen? Or do you keep that in a safe too?
No offense, really, but I am trying to understand the reasoning. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
