Well, according to some people on this board, if the guy genuinely was afraid for his life, he shouldn’t go to jail. After all, there is no reasonable expectation that a gun be present in order for someone to be afraid that someone has a gun and is threatening them.
The black kid might have been carrying concealed. He *had *to be shot first as a means of pre-emptive self defense.
Per the reasoning of those same people.
And I have every confidence that the Usual Suspects would have considered it a “just shooting” if the boy had been killed, on the basis of whatever post hoc excuse about what he should have done or shouldn’t have done (based entirely on the homeowner’s story of an attempted break-in since the boy wouldn’t have been around to tell his side of the story) they could have concocted.
I do think that the members of the NRA pants-wetting cowards movement are going to look in to how to delete things from their smart doorbells in case they accidentally on purpose shoot someone who politically correct pussies think they shouldn’t have.
Interesting that it is caught on tape. I wonder what the homeowners would have accused him of to justify their actions had it not been.
Of course, we are just monday morning quarterbacking. If people come to your door in the middle of the day, then you have every reason to fear for your life.

Well, the homeowners could’ve planted a cellphone in his hand so it would’ve looked perfectly justifiable self-defense.

Which I don’t really care about. All I want to know is why are 5 cops hanging around the bathroom. Ain’t they got cop stuff to do? Surely THIS incident won’t take more than 2.

The hero’s name was Jeffrey Ziegler, a retired white fire-fighter. And the police arrest him and let the very dark-skinned suspect go free. :smack: MAGA? It’s taking longer than we hoped.
Why didn’t you post this in the Guns are so very very wonderful thread? The alert homeowner foiled a home break-in. Yes, the criminal suspect was only 14, but some 14-year olds are hardened criminals and, anyway, the mother herself admitted that her son looked 15.
I’d post in Guns are so very very wonderful myself but have already received a warning for posting a story there that was too relevant. That thread seems to be devoted to stories of men who carry a concealed gun all day, report that their penis feels warmer, and can come home and jack off with a single hand.
Though they seem to take that thread a bit seriously, and don’t appreciate it when a story gets posted that sheds a less than glowing ray of angelic light upon their toys, this story almost could have gone in there.
Without the video that showed that the people were trying to kill this kid for no reason whatsoever, it would have been tallied as a defensive gun use, and would have been well received.
How do you miss with a shotgun at what, ten feet? In daylight?
ETA: Unless it was choked way down, rendering it useless for home defense.
