So, kinda douple stupid news, then.
The only reason that he didn’t kill an innocent kid is because he is too incompetent to use the gun properly to defend his home.

OK, that’s a terrible story and I hope the shooter faces consequences. Jail consequences. But I really am confused by an aspect of the story: The kid was asking for directions to his own school? Whuh?
He missed the bus. He was trying to follow the route the bus took to school, but got turned around.
Yeah, that’s what I got from a few links about this, too. I still say “whuh?” I guess the kid has his reasons, and possibly ain’t too bright or something. I’m not trying to be an asshole, but I really am puzzled why he didn’t know the way to his own school. Or why he didn’t just walk to shool the direct route from his house- why follow the bus route? Of course he didn’t deserve to be shot at in any case, but this story seems to be missing something.
I didn’t really know directions too well before I started driving. Probably the only time he’d traveled the route was on the bus or someone else driving. He didn’t have his phone, so he couldn’t use it for directions.
I couldn’t find the address of the kid or of where he was shot at (obviously), but here is where the school is.
Lots of streets, twisty and turny, in those subdivisions. If he was coming from the south east, that’s a bit more straightforward, but I can certainly see getting turned around in some of those other neighborhoods.
My parents live in a twisty subdivision, and people are always stopping and asking for directions. They can see the sign for McDonalds, but don’t realize that they are in a no outlet subdivision, and have to go the opposite direction for a bit first.
My IQ is higher than most, but my sense of direction is poor and I could easily imagine myself becoming so confused. (In fact I don’t have to imagine it — it’s happened.)
But well played, haters! Blame the victim! The hero was defending his home from a robber/rapist! (Never mind that he attempted to shoot the fleeing thug in the back.)
BTW, those wondering why the hero’s shotgun missed the thug must not have clicked to read the story: He forgot to take the safety off before he shot! (But never mind the hero’s foibles; the real story is all about the black thug’s pretense of needing directions. :smack: )
I think you are overreacting a slight little bit.
I don’t think it’s odd at all. When I used school-bus back in the day, I didn’t know where exactly the school was. It was out of my usual hanging places and the route was long and winding because the bus picked up students all the time. Also while in the bus we didn’t look at the scenery and that wouldn’t be the shortest road anyway.
Went there three years and I could have never walked there on my own.
Here’s a great gun story!
How come they never report all those stories about toddlers killing and seriously injuring other people with knives, cars and swimming pools?
To be honest I have read several stories about toddlers killing and injuring people with cars. So there, gun grabbing isn’t a solution unless you want to grab all the cars as well.
It’s one of those stories that the child will be able to tell her kids one day.
When they are holding her at gunpoint.
The toddler must have thought her unborn sibling was gestating in a threatening manner.
If we armed pregnant women she might have had a chance against the punk.
I stand corrected. Clearly this shows that laws banning toddlers from driving cars are ineffective and therefore we shouldn’t have any.
Yes, I fact there should be a Constitutional Amendment that a well regulated garage should be a human right. How else you’re going to defend yourself when government’s wheels go off.
Shotguns aren’t the room clearing, point it in the general direction of the target and pull the trigger, killing machines depicted in the movies.
Modern shotguns only have a spread of about .5" per yard so the pattern at ten feet would only be 1.5"
Good news for the kid and I hope they prosecute the hell out of the shooter.
Cars do not kill people — just ask Anton Yelchin.
Well, once you introduce a Jeep into the situation, it’ll have to be used.
Mother drops gun, shoots two year old daughter dead
But at least she owned the gun legally, and had a concealed carry permit.
