After deliberating for 90 minutes, a jury decided David Wilson acted in self-defense when he fatally shot a Texas police officer who was at his home to investigate a burglar alarm that had been triggered. Wilson says he thought the officer was a burglar.
This actually belongs in the Positive Gun News thread, but since I’m thread banned from posting there, I’m putting it here to celebrate.
California Governor Gavin Newsom calls for bill to allow private citizens to sue assault weapon manufacturers and distributors.
Notwithstanding the Supreme Court decision on the Texas abortion law, you just know they will strike this down. Perfectly consistent Republican principles, y’know.
AIUI, the Texas abortion law hasn’t been ‘decided’ - SCOTUS simply refused to suspend it, making it a stopgap measure. Once they have struck down actual Roe v. Wade, they can strike down the Texas law without worry about their immortal souls (since they don’t give a crap about the Constitution).
Oh no, those rights were taken away from you by the Child Safety Lock Act of 2005.

Every single person involved in an incident in this thread would almost surely have described themselves as one of the safe rational and responsible ones. So even that is open to question.

In the immortal words of Jon Lajoie,
twitter video seems to show a person in a car following a school bus waving at the bus standing up through the sunroof; then he reaches down into the car, takes out what looks like a rifle and points it toward the bus.
But, this was in Ohio, so I guess it is ok.
I’ve been told that in an open carry state there’s no reason to be, even slightly, alarmed by the above.
I remember “Show and Tell” being different, but I’m not from Ohio.
Guy shoots and kills his friend over a video game mishap.
My roommates in college both played Diablo, and based on how they’d yell at each other when they played together and it wasn’t going well I wouldn’t have been surprised if they shot each other…
This is the saddest indictment of our country I’ve seen all day.
One or two less (R) voters. Dead and felon. I have no special insight into their voting records, I’m just a collection of electrons and photons on the ethernet.
Truth. Unless you live in a 1 room apt and sleep in your chair, there is no reason to ever leave a loaded gun next to your computer.
Some people need to be reminded their right to remain silent also protects them from coming across like total dipsticks.
I mean, yeah, sure, this is America, I agree, but that doesn’t mean I just let my SUV run overnight where it’s parked.
“Just because you can…”
