Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 1)

You could have stopped at “I can’t think”. It would have been more honest.

Seriously, the fact that you don’t understand what the problem is here says a lot about you.

What I find interesting is that, with the myriad posters on this board who are avid gun rights supporters, literally only one will join in discussions this guy is in. I think most of them are smart enough to see how dim and unhelpful Kable is. Only Damuri Ajashi isn’t.

But to be fair, his capacities are currently being challenged by his emoitions over his pediatrician’s interrogation.

And to also be fair, I agree with Damuri Ajashi on many points, including that licensing and registration would be more effective at preventing gun deaths than an AWB ban and magazine limitation. As I’ve said before, I’m not arguing with Kable because I’m anti-gun; I’m arguing with him because he’s a disingenuous idiot who thinks that anyone who doesn’t conform to his bizarre “gun grabber” strawman is lying to hide their real agenda.

Actually I’m not arguing with him at all anymore, only pointing and laughing at the sad clown he is.

Constitutionally speaking, why is it okay to have stringent concealed carry requirements but not stringent ownership requirements? It seems if it’s not constitutionally denied to require classes and permitting to carry a concealed weapon, the same sorts of requirements could be made for gun ownership in general.

IANAL but I would imagine a blanket requirement could be seen as an overly onerous obstacle to a constitutional right. On the other hand, given all the jiggerypokery that’s going on with voting rights at the moment and the enhanced requirements to be allowed to vote, there’s clearly a continuum here and a determination to be had about how much is too much.

Really? “Eating pigs is bad,” is what you took away from my post?
One of three possibilities here:

  • You’re impossibly stupid.
  • You’re an unmitigated shit-stirring troll.
  • You’re the moron who shot the pig.

Which one do you want to be?

Come on Gyrate, it’s a funny story. People eat pigs you know. It’s normal. Haven’t you ever visited a farm?

I have visited farms, yes - I have relatives who are farmers (although not, thankfully, pig farmers, given the smell involved). And I eat pork, bacon and ham. What’s your point?

So what’s the problem.

Lookee, y’all. There’s a pig in someone’s yard. I’ma get ma gun an’ shoot it! Yee haw!
Yeah, no problems there.

That was one reason why there was a big push for states to enact “Shall Issue” laws. It changed gun carry from a state-granted privilege to a right that the state had to show cause to deny. Some hardliners do insist that there should be “constitutional carry”, but gun rights advocates have more important priorities.
ETA: strictly speaking, a carry permit in a Shall Issue state is simply certification that you have been investigated and found to not be ineligible to own a gun. The classes requirement is more borderline, but essentially it’s that you’ve proven you’re not dangerously incompetent with a firearm.

But the pig wasn’t in somebodies yard. It was on the side of a highway. It was in the country not the suburbs. Why would anyone shoot a pig? Because it’s made of pork, dummy.

Valuable Posting Tip #27 There are ‘words’ underneath headlines.

It wasn’t a wild boar, Ted Nugent, it was a pet pig. Mr. Pork Loving Responsible Gun owner should have called animal control, or the cops; what he shouldn’t have done is gone home to get his gun so he could come back and load up on bacon. That’s called being irresponsible – which, in case I need to spell it out to you (you do know how to spell, right?) is the point of my original post.

But don’t let me slow you down; that shit isn’t going to stir itself.

LOL- I was just chatting with a neighbor about this “I saw an animal so I killed it!” attitude.

Hunting? Sure, whatever. It’s not my bag, but if you wanna shoot and eat deer, knock yourself out. Until I learned that very often, the deer are farm raised and released 10 days before hunting season. Might as well tie them to a log as much ‘sport’ as there seems to be in that.

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard someone say they saw a (snake, possum, raccoon, bird, squirrel, armadillo- you name it) and decided to shoot it, and this happened again this week. I’m in Texas, so maybe that has something to do with it. I just don’t grok the thought process that compels one to shoot any old animal that happens to cross their path… especially in a suburban neighborhood.

So, in my normal, suburban, residential area, a neighbor just told me he saw a possum and shot it with his 22. I have been watching this possum roam around here for weeks. It’s been poking around my compost bid, annoying the neighbors cat by checking out his cat food bowl, and hiding in the bushes behind my other neighbors shed.

Whenever I hear a neighbor say “I saw a (insert animal here) and shot it!” I usually ask “Why? Was it causing you some trouble?”

Usually they reply “Well, they’re destructive and carry diseases!” I usually think, but do not say except on occasion “Yeah? So are/do you, but I don’t feel compelled to shoot you over it.”

I’m kinda hoping just asking the question will cause these kind to evaluate their future actions. Probably too subtle, though.

What, really? I thought deer tended to overpopulate. Bang goes that argument, so to speak.

It wasn’t some pot-bellied pig you moron, it was the kind of pig you eat, and the kind of pig that often escapes and becomes feral.

Doe!

This guy had a fairly good reason though. He wanted to eat it. Feral pigs are known to be destructive. You can read about it on wiki.
