Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 1)

And that is not “penis store review”. You cannot buy one. Either you have one, or you can borrow one, but there are no such stores, and they are not reviewed.

No, ‘deer breeding’ is big business in my state. The reason it was in the news was because of a new bill before my state legislature, House Bill 2092. And, one lawmaker wanted to increase the amount of time deer were allowed to acclimate to the wild once released from 10 days to 60 to give them a sporting chance. : http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/05/us/texas-deer-breeders-seek-relaxation-of-rules.html?_r=0

When you reflexively defend firearms related crimes, you diminish your credibility. This may be why no other gun advocates on the board other than DA seem to want to have anything to do with you. That and the argument by YouTube video.

That, and the fact that you are otherwise so exceedingly stupid.

A deer! A female deer!

Is there really any legitimate reason for killing farm animals like this? If he saw a loose horse, cow, goat, or sheep, would he be justified shooting it? I would think not.

He’s acting irresponsibly. It’s not a feral hog. If he can’t tell the difference, he shouldn’t be shooting it. It’s obviously a pig typically grown on a farm. Someone lost it. The responsible thing would be to call the authorities or catch it himself. If no one claims it, then he can slaughter it.

Just because an animal is loose doesn’t mean he can shoot and eat it. Even if it was a farm pig, shooting it denies the farmer of whatever plans he had for it. Maybe he wanted to fatten it up or maybe it was carrying a litter of piglets. Unless the pig was acting in a threatening manner, it was irresponsible of him to shoot it.

So what? You are going to have to drag the die hard “what part of the phrase ‘SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED’ don’t you understand, dummy?” gun nuts kicking and screaming no matter what you propose. Do you think that licensing and registration would have been easier or harder for people to vote for the month of so after Newtown? How about right after that nucking futz response by Wayne La Pierre “the answer to gun violence is more guns” (you are never going to come to terms with these guys, you have to either acquiesce to them or roll right over them, you can’t come to terms with them no matter what you propose the response is going to be “TYRANNY!!!”).

SCOTUS has already chimed in on licensing and registration (extremely onerous licensing and registration requirements at that) and given it the green light in Heller.

Rather than do something that riles up not only the fringey “from my cold dead hands” crowd, the AWB riles up opposition from more moderate gun owners who see this as an attack on and demonization of guns and gun owners generally. It is particularly galling when the last assault weapons ban had no discernible effect on gun violence.

Under Heller, stringent licensing requirements, like we have in DC are constitutional.

Funny story, Utah just passed a constitutional carry law that gives everyone the right to carry concealed in Utah but early drafts of the law eliminated concealed carry permits altogether. My concealed weapons permit is from Utah (a Utah concealed weapons permit is recognized in more states than any other permit, they have a lot of reciprocity agreements, I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t already taking some firearms classes that were certified for the Utah permit) and the passage of this “pro-gun” law would have left me without a concealed carry permit. Utah quickly changed the language so that their permits would be preserved. So now someone carrying under a constitutional carry must carry without a round in the chamber (like anyone would ever check).

I went pig hunting once and I’ve been told that wild pig is inedible.

Its kind of like Obamacare, some portion of the people that were against it were actually for a more robust program.

Road hunting is generally illegal as well, as far as I understand it. It was certainly frowned upon by the responsible hunters I’ve spoken with.

Young feral pigs are fine. Old sows and boars, not so much.

Looks like **Kable’s **going with option 1: impossibly stupid. If his hero The Pig Hunter was only interested in some free pork loin, he could put a leash on the beast and walked him to the slaughterhouse.

Come on, do you really believe Kable has options?

Or shoot it, dress it and drop it off, like a hunter is used to doing.

Really? Kable is defending shooting a pet pig as a reasonable response to finding a stray animal?

In other, much less stupid, gun news:

"The Senate cleared a major procedural hurdle on Thursday as it voted to overcome a Republican filibuster effort and begin debate on a gun control package.

Senators voted 68 to 31 take up the bill put forward by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

(D-Nev.) that would expand background checks to more gun buyers, form a national commission on mass violence, create a federal gun trafficking statute and enhance school safety measures. The procedural motion required 60 votes to pass, and Republicans had been dodging questions for days on how they would vote.

If the senators who voted “no” had prevailed, the Senate wouldn’t have been able to debate the package, let alone amend it and vote on it."

No.

When you spot a pig on the side of the road as you are driving by, tell your friends that that is what you are going to do.

Then, go home and get your gun, hit the tame and friendly pig twice in the shoulder before killing it.

And then, when the cops show up to cite you for illegal discharge of a firearm (with an $1,100 dollar fine), claim you “shot the pig to keep it from wandering around the roadway and causing a major accident” all while explaining that that was how you were raised (?) and how you once were made to eat a crow that you shot.

Didn’t look like a pet to me, just looked like a pig, the kind people normally eat, and some redneck thought he’d take advantage. Not exactly pit worthy but it’s funny to see you guys make a big deal out of it.

LOL- you’ve posted 9 times about the pet pig, about half the pig related posts here, so somebody is making a big deal about it and that somebody is you!

Yeah, I’m making a big deal out of it by saying it’s no big deal.

Did it look like a wild pig? Did he have the proper pig hunting permits? Does he have the right to just take what clearly wasn’t his? Why is the law protecting gun rights so important to you, yet the laws protecting personal property, not so much? Seems like you play pretty fast a loose with the rights of others, while jealously guarding your own.

But I thought you were an extreme advocate for responsible gun ownership and here you are calling this kind of irresponsible behavior “no big deal.” Repeatedly.

How shall I know when to believe you as a responsible advocate for gun ownership or not? Why do you defend irresponsible gun ownership?

From what I can tell, the guy didn’t violate any gun safety rules. I’m not sure if he violated any local laws or not.

Didn’t read the article, huh?
