As I said I don’t know the local laws but escaped hogs do become feral quickly and are known to do a lot of damage.
“As of 2008, the estimated population of 4 million feral pigs caused an estimated US$800 million of property damage per year in the U.S.[66] The problematic nature of feral hogs has caused several states in the U.S. to declare feral hogs to be an invasive species. Often, these states will have greatly reduced (or even non-existent) hunting regulations regarding feral hogs. In Missouri, no hunting permit is required for the taking of wild boar; hunters may take as many as they like with any weapon. The Missouri Department of Conservation requests that hunters who encounter feral hogs shoot them on sight.”
No I read the article, it was funny. What safety rule did he break? What law? He was cited for “malicious injury to animals” but I’m not sure that will hold up in court, but as I said I don’t know the local laws.
So weird because in my previous post I noted about how he was cited for an illegal discharge of a firearm and will pay and $1,100 fine. So you read neither the article or my post, but just can’t keep defending the irresponsible gun owner. It’s almost like you are some kind of a gun nut who won’t read anything critical of your position.
No where in the article did it say anything that Ashmore was trying to prevent the pig from going feral. The pig was so docile it stayed in the same place long enough for him to go home and get his gun. He even said he would have caught it if he knew it was someone’s pet. Does Ashmore also kill random cats and dogs he sees to prevent them from going feral?
Well then… What if this pig had grown up to be HITLER PIG? What then, huh? Maybe Ashmore was just trying to save us from a world dominated by a super-race of mutant Nazi super pigs! Ever thought of that, smart guy?
The pig looked like good eating. I could see you all being outraged if you were vegetarians, but sounds like none of you are. You guys really care that much about one pig?
Escaped pigs become feral readily, or so I am told.
“Domestic pigs can escape and quite readily become feral, and feral populations are problematic in several ways.”
It’s from the wiki article I already posted. You can lead a horse to water…
And they readily take on the appearance of a feral pig, which this pig could not have. You are defending the theft of a pig that was clearly domesticated, not feral. He who takes what isn’t his’n, goes to court and then to prison.
Non sequitur . The future feral-ness of the pig did not factor into to Ashmore’s actions. Here’s more non sequiturs:
Ashmore shot the pig because:
pigs can carry diseases that make people sick
pigs can charge a person and kill them
pigs can sit on a person’s face and suffocate them
pigs can tear up flower gardens
…
Posting links about feral hogs is irrelevant since Ashmore never gave that as a motivation for shooting the pig. And even if he was worried about the pig going feral, he should have instead caught it and returned it to the owner. That’s the responsible way to prevent it from going feral.
Then stop bringing up nonsense about feral hogs. Even you don’t think he was concerned about the hog going feral.
A domestic pig that becomes feral does not look like a wild boar. Good try though, and domestic pigs are typically bread for eating. You really care that much about a pig?
The fucking pig isn’t even the issue, no matter how delicious it looked. The issue is the asshole with the gun who thinks he can go around shooting whatever he pleases.
