“Small arms” fire…?
Small hand guns.
[applause]
I see that a handful of musicians have cancelled playing at the NRA convention this weekend. I was pretty shocked that Don McLean was one of the names.
I was as well. Not that it matters a wit, but my opinion of him just hit rock bottom.
Yeah, I saw Don McLean’s name and it took me aback. I can’t imagine he would need money that badly; not to mention that his music doesn’t come across as the sort of stuff that would be popular among the sort of people who attend an NRA meeting.
I’m a bit startled at how old all those performers are. Those who’ve withdrawn because of Uvalde include
T. Graham Brown (67) and Danielle Peck (a mere 43) have apparently also withdrawn, leaving one singer still booked (Jacob Bryant, only 26!), but apparently the entire concert has been canceled now?
There are apparently about 500 protestors, but tens of thousands of attendees.
What? You’ve never heard Shooty, Shooty Night?
AFAIC those clowns destroyed their reputations by agreeing to play at the NRA conference in the first place.
What? I expected Kid Rock and panty pisset Nugent. Instead, it was a bunch of country geezers who had songs about guns [and trucks, women who left, dogs, trucks, booze, trucks…].
7-year-old brings loaded handgun to school.
Exactly. I thought the headliners would be those two sets of animated truck nuts.
At this point, I really can’t blame the 7 year old for bringing a handgun to school in his backpack. After all, it’s pretty clear that if a deranged gunman gets into his classroom, the little kid can’t count on the police to do fuck-all for him. It’s every 7 year old for himself.
That’s what I was thinking.
Do you punish a 7 year old for bringing a gun to school to protect themselves from school shooters?
I mean, they were wrong for a number of reasons to do so, but they are 7, I give them a bit more leeway than I do an supposedly fully functioning adult who is terrified to go to the local Wal-mart without being armed.
“We don’t see any difference whatsoever between the two cases you’ve described. Both the child and the adult WalMart shopper have our full support”

From the article:
“A spokesperson shared a statement sent to families which said they’re dedicated to keeping the campus safe and encourage parents to check their child’s bookbags before school.”
I was told that responsible gun-owners keep their weapons locked up. Guess not.
You know how it is. You mean to put a banana into your kid’s lunchbox, but you quite understandably mix it up with your Desert Eagle.
The owners of Daniel Defense, a manufacturer of budget AR-15 variants, have a tax exempt non-profit called Assets For Christ, Inc.
Because of course they do.
