As Justice Samuel Alito noted in a concurrent opinion, “The New York law at issue in this case obviously did not stop that preparatory,” referring to the 18-year-old who shot and killed ten Black people and injured three others in a racially-motivated rampage at a Tops supermarket in Buffalo last month.
I find it said, lamentable, and regrettable when a Supreme Court Justice apparently – at least in part – makes such a consequential ruling based on such a clear logical fallacy.
I guess we should expect the SC to strike down any law, anywhere, that is being violated (ie, that doesn’t eliminate every single case of that which it makes illegal).
It’s effectively nothing more than an NRA talking point.
Example
We’re always told about the strict gun laws in Mexico, and then told that they still have a high rate of gun violence. Okay, but take away those Mexican gun control laws, one at a time, and let’s see what happens to the rate of gun violence.
I thought this quote in the article was interesting:

Yesterday in Atlanta, a man shot and killed one worker at Subway and injured another because they put too much mayo on his sandwich. This is America.
You know, most people simply say politely, “That’s enough, please.” Or ask for it to be remade. Instead, someone won’t be returning home to their family.
Georgia allows concealed carry without a license. This kind of incident is why I am opposed to such loose gun laws. Even if someone doesn’t leave their house intending to commit a crime, they can turn into a murderer with one anger management failure.
I recently watched a video about Atlanta and it showed a couple kids selling water at an intersection. One of the boys showed the interviewer/cameraman a bag that contained two handguns. The interviewer asked the people giving him the tour if that was common and they said basically everyone carries guns now that it’s legal to carry concealed. Sounds like a great idea.

For reasons that are not clear, the driver of the pickup decided to fire over a dozen shots through his side window (blowing out the glass on the first shot) apparently at the car next to him. My guess is that he suddenly felt like his magazine was too full.
