Does Amazon deliver to prisons?
Were you going to send him a gift?
IMHO shooting at someone and hitting them is sufficient to presume intent to kill, but what do I know. You are probably correct that that charge was what they thought was the one most likely to result in a conviction.
And, just as likely as we see in a number of breaking news shootings, they charge first with a slam-dunk charge, and once they’ve gathered more evidence, consider additional charges.
I would have thought the prosecutor would go with attempted murder with a lesser included charge of felonious assault. Also, the DA has the opportunity to amend/upgrade the charges until the trial starts, I think.
So, felonious assault is to attempted murder, as manslaughter is to murder? Is “attempted manslaughter” a thing?
The man shot Grand-dad, mom and two sons because one of the sons had stood in the window and exposed himself to the girls playing outside.
On the one hand, if the girls are deprived of their father (by him ending up in prison), that could be a bad thing. On the other hand, if these girls are deprived of their father, I find it difficult to see a downside.
Have you heard about the 2 year old who shot his mother to death?
“This happened last week, and investigators are now piecing together how the toddler got his hands on the family’s gun and fired it.”
I’m going to wager that this family left a loaded gun where a fucking 2 year old could get his hands on it. Sound fair??
Sibling rivalry is getting out of hand.
“… accidetally …” ?
no
…“family gun???”…
They shouldn’t of used his birthday as the code for the gun safe.
For the child that has to live with this the rest of their lives, yes, it was an accident.
For the adults who created the situation, no, it was not.
Hey, some households have to be frugal, can’t give a gun to every person in the house.
Kids these days - they grow up so fast.
In my day, we didn’t shoot anyone until we started school.
Yes, attempted manslaughter is a thing, but we will need a real lawyer to figure out the relationships between the various types of charge.
My legally-unqualified self suspects that they can’t be adequately described by that sort of simple linear proportion, though. Anything a layperson can easily comprehend is pretty much guaranteed to be not accurate law, right?
Actually the son jacked off in front of the girls, but yeah. Unbelievable. I imagine alcohol was involved, but who knows.
Argh. Not on the Dope, man. There are people here who have guns.
The latest article in the local paper makes it sound purely like vengeance…no alcohol involved. Vigilante justice is still alive in the wild west. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an armed posse ride through my neighborhood soon.
FYI, don’t go to electronic music festivals (raves) in countries where guns are easily available.
A woman who was visiting her boyfriend in El Paso was a passenger in an Uber that was taking her to a casino near the Mexican border. As they drove south, she panicked, thinking that he was going to take her into Mexico, so she shot him in the head. Later he was removed from life support and she is charged with murder. (One article about this is here.)
