Cite?
Cite? How about GAAP and basic accounting? After numbers were stamped on the metal of those pistolas at manufacture, they were shipped someplace… right?
That someplace had to be a a legal repository or store for guns… right?
That spreadsheet had the wrong columns for the numbers we want to look at. So, either ‘Machine Guns Are Us’ is selling metal under the table… or they are getting knocked over more than a nymphomaniac… or … ignorant Mom & Pop purchasers doing stupid things like leaving guns in cars/trucks/ leaving them in drawers their kids an babysitters have access to/ leaving them unsecured in easy to recognise gun storage locations in their houses are the source.
TL;DR The very guns which are killing us… we bought!!! Maybe they were stolen, owner had a psychotic break, they were given to relatives… but those are just excuses.
We are the ones supplying the guns which are used to kill us.
And, if after the crime… gun dealers buy those guns back? Then there’s a definite non-zero chance of a second scoop of ice-cream on that gun oil tasting cone.
Nobody died, no injuries, but the stupid is front and center.
Because of a ‘Mom joke’. Wow.
Wow, the kid must have a hair-trigger temper.
Back when I was a kid (and dinosaurs ruled the earth) kids would have a fight… which was more like a wrestling match… over taunts like this. There might have been scrapes, dirty clothes, and the two kids would scuttle away at the end exhausted.
Their parents would punish them… maybe make them go to bed w/o supper… and the next day the kids started over. Sure, it was barbaric… but it worked.
No, violence was the same: violent, traumatic, damaging.
There just was a lot more of it.
It never was better.
…except perhaps in the sense that non-lethal is better than lethal?
It’s the rose colored glasses I guess. Scrapes heal, kids forgive & get over it, they were going to out-grow those jeans in 6 months anyway, and if you cut a square out of the last pair of jeans they grew out of and sew it on as a patch, you can barely see the tear.
And everyone was still able to sit down at the table for dinner.
And everyone finished the school year.
And life went on for everybody… life went on…
Truck Theft in Texas: and the winner is… the NRA?
White Supremacist arrested with Meth, guns, ammo because… of course.
"Ryan Scott Bradford, 34, of the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles, is prohibited from having guns or ammunition because he is a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles said Friday.
Police raided his home Thursday after he called for the mass murder of Jews in online comments and said that he was able to make guns at home using a 3D printer, the prosecutor’s office said."
I swear I just saw this on twitter. Amazing that there are people today who seriously believe that.
five people were shot while trying to help people at a community outreach event in Seattle:
The Post is a bad source but it quoted the Seattle Police Chief as saying,
“Honestly, this is really disturbing,” Diaz said. “When you have victims that were really just trying to do an outreach effort, trying to help people…get people on the right path- And this is what they end up getting hit with.”
Chicago man fatally shoots 8-year-old girl because she was “too loud”.
A known offender who screamed at kids and who everybody in the neighborhood avoided because they knew he was trouble? Here’s a gun, have fun.
Data shows that from 2015-2022
at least 895 preschoolers and toddlers aged five and under managed to find a gun and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else
That is an average of more than two shootings per week committed by young children.
Not news, but here is a post I saw in Reddit today:
My new co-worker wears a handgun at work and I feel unsafe.
My new coworker wears a handgun at work and seems to be an unstable and angry person. After two weeks working with this person, it’s become clear he is volatile and unstable. I can’t believe my work allows him to have this gun at work. Everyone walks on eggshells around him. Not sure what to do about the situation.
Subsequent comment by OP:
I’ve tried to bring this up with my boss and my meeting has been pushed out twice. I’ve asked other employees about this and they’ve said they don’t care about the gun. It’s a small office and doesn’t really have an “HR”. I’m looking for new employment.
Comments range from serious to quite comical.
Subsequent posts by OP:
I live in the west. Major city and have never seen people carrying guns.
This is the deal here. The employee is [former] military and says he will never work where his “rights” are not recognized.
I work in a legal office.
I predict this idjit is going to shoot someone eventually. Himself, a family member, someone at work, or simply someone who cut him off in traffic, or “disrespected” him.
He’s a ticking time bomb.
