Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 2)

As is last Saturday’s Red and Rover.

Somehow I think sarcasm is not the right way to describe it. I think a better term might, modestly, be “swift”, which is quite close to sarcasm in its way, but pointier.

Here’s the stupidest stupid part

“Oh s—, my gun went off”

said the responsible gun owner.

The responsible gun owner is an elected member of the town council.

Brent Metz, 38, was charged with four felonies — first-degree assault, illegal discharge of a firearm and two counts of menacing — as well as two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment in the latest in a string of incidents in which well-meaning or accidental visitors find themselves on the wrong end of a gun.
Although prosecutors argued for a cash bond, a judge allowed Metz, who is an elected member of the Mountain View, Colo., town council, to leave jail by promising to return for future court appearances. He faces decades in prison if convicted.

Just like that. Just…“went off”.

Guns are sentient. They do what they want. Can’t trust those buggers.

Then shouldn’t this incident go in a “Smart Gun news of the day” thread?

I’ve heard that there are some Really Poorly designed guns (sold at a discount but not recalled. Because of course not. ) that can and do fire if cocked and squeezed too hard.

But usually its because some stupid yahoo has his finger inside the trigger guard.

That said, “But you’re honor… it was a $200 special.” is not a valid defense.

Don’t point a gun at something unless you intend to shoot it.

Yes, exactly. He shot the teen IN THE FACE.

Sadly, they won’t be able to charge him with attempted murder.

That does sound better than… “Oh s—, my gun was pointed at your face”

Guns don’t kill people…oh wait. Maybe they do…

Uniformed Secret Service officer accidentally shoots himself on duty.

A U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Uniformed Division officer was injured in Washington, D.C., Saturday night after accidentally shooting himself.

The USSS told Fox News Digital that the “negligent discharge” occurred near 32nd and Fessenden streets in the northwest section of the city just before 8 p.m.

The agent, who was on duty, was handling his service weapon when the firearm discharged.

I wonder if he was stroking it while musing:

This is my gun. There are many like it; it’s better than the one I was born with.

My gun is my best friend. It is my life. I must worship it as I adore it.

I, without the gun, am useless. Without my gun, I am useless. I must fire my gun often. It matters not if I shoot straighter than an enemy who is trying to kill me. It matters not if there is no such enemy. What matters is my gun.

My gun and I know that what counts is the sound of gunfire, the noise of the shoot, and the smoke we make. We know that it’s the gun’s existence that counts.

My gun is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my gun clean and ready. We will become part of each other. I kid. I’ll do no such things.

Before God, I swear this creed. My gun and myself are the embodiment of the second amendment. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America’s and there is no enemy, but peace!! (And lots of shooting in celebration!)

Ooo—kaaayyy… that was… interesting …?

It was a loaded question.

If you can’t trust a trained USSS person to handle a gun properly, why do the MAGAs think teachers and students can handle them safely? Forget it, stupid question.

I’ll just note that I read the first sentences as “uninformed” USSS officer. At least as to gun safety.

“Did you use birth control?”

“Yes.”

“Death control” ?

There was a Newsweek article about how Russia’s “Satan-2” blew up on the pad for the 4th time, possibly indicating that Russias nuclear arsenal may no longer work… but they aren’t guns so I didn’t post the link here.

‘Twas a parody of the US Marine Corps’ rifle creed.
