Thanks, Bricker, that’s about what I thought. As I said, before, the incident on this particular video does not strike me as particularly egregious, but I wondered if the officer in question might have violated some technical procedure. I’ve seen a lot worse stuff to get upset about than this case.

I’m not really sure what you’re objecting to. All I meant was the the actions by the officer in the video do not strike me as particuarly anomalous or outrageous. I didn’t say it was an abusive use of force, just that it was a use of force. I think it was fairly average incident, not an extraordinary one.
How do we know that this wasn’t a couple of actors playing dress-up? Is there a police report somewhere?

In my opinion the cops use of force was excessive, and at the same time the guy he was arresting did NOT comply with orders from him. Both parties get 2 years lockup, no parole, case closed. Next!

I see a cop bashing thread on this board with some regularity, but I’ve never seen a cop killer bashed here.

There’s that one cop killer that all the celebrities love. I forget his name, but he’s been slammed repeatedly on these boards.
Well, I noticed that one of these things is not like the other. I see a big difference between disliking a group of people based on involuntary characteristics (race/ethnicity, sex, sexual preference/orientation, etc.)- always bad, disliking people based on semivoluntary characteristics (cultural/religious behaviors and beliefs)- sometimes bad, sometimes not, and disliking people based on wholly voluntary characteristics (choice of profession, most behaviors, etc.)- maybe not smart, but not anywhere close to racism, etc.
I see it as completely disingenuous to equate calling a couple of cops (who are arguably using excessive force) “pigs” with calling Israelis “kikes”, Chinese “chinks,” and blacks “niggers” (regardless of their behavior). Cops that abuse their position ARE “pigs;” those who don’t, aren’t.
You know, one of my characters on The Sims Online wears a cop uniform, and within minutes of joining the game I was beaten to a pulp by ravers. That’s brutality.

If you are claiming that the term “pigs” referred only to abusive officers, no problem. Simply create a thread called “Stupid faggots (gay crimes)”, cite only Jeffrey Dahmer and Gaetan Dugas, and see if people think that is plausible.

Shodan- I took the thread title to be referring to the two police officers who were beating & macing the hell out of a guy that was, at worst, passively resisting, not the entire profession, although the OP doesn’t say much more than “look at this video.” Maybe I didn’t read enough into it.
Slip- a couple of examples: bad doctors are “quacks,” bad lawyers are “shysters.” Not every profession has its own little slur against bad practitioners. No, bad nurses aren’t “pigs,” nor are anyone else other than bad cops.
I guess I did read too much into Slip’s post stating:
