You called it representative of the use of force that police use… in other words, that police are often brutal to suspects. Using such a tiny, statistically insignificant sample to make this conclusion is the height of idiocy. If this one video truly were an example of how police normally behave, we’d be seeing dozens - hundreds - of them every year.
But we don’t.
An intelligent person would call this incident - if it were, indeed, an actual cop performing an actual arrest - a statistical fluke, not the standard operating procedure.
I’m from the OKC, and that’s pretty much the feeling we have of this. At least, the people I regularly talk to. The local news media is keeping strangly nuetral on the case.
A local NAACP spokesman is calling for a black boycott of the new Ford Center sports stadium, Bricktown (a local “old town” bunch of restaurants and clubs), and some other stuff the city has interest in. But, I haven’t noticed anyone acting or talking any different.
Oh, and BTW, it’s a real story. (I just now reread the thread and saw the question of this being fake.) It’s been on the news here over and over and over.
The police internal investigation did not find any reason to censure the officers involved. Some other stuff has been said about it (see above post about NAACP), but I haven’t been following it too closely.
Just another case of stupid guy, overly aggressive cops. If I see anything more on tonight’s news, I’ll let you all know.
I used to live in Tulsa and so I have a little knowledge of OKC, the bumms… he he he
Actually, ion general, I owuld rank Tulsa and Oklahoma City as having overall very good rank and file officers from all I have seen, heard, and experienced.
Bawahahahahaah yepper, you are from OKC…
When I was hualing checks as a second flying job I was in and out of 'Downtown A/P a lot. I got really tired of tall buildings…
Thanks for the link.
I did move to N/W AR in 98 but I am glad to see the old rules are still working.
Is the I-40 – I-35 interchange done yet? he he he
They say it is, but it isn’t any better. That whole 235 40 35 area of the freeway sucks.
Add 44 into all that and you have some of the worse urban planning for highways of any major city I’ve yet lived in.
For the most part, the living here is nice. I have fam in Tulsa, too. Shucks, I even like visiting in and around Eureka Springs, AR. Went canoeing on the White River one winter. Yes, winter. (I think it’s called White River)
What timing.
Well, time to end this current example of NCB completely hijacking a thread…
Nothing else new on this case other than what I linked to. If something major breaks, I’ll dig up this thread and post. Unless a lot of time passes.
