Stupid question - Desktop themes and XP

I must be rather computer illiterate…but I’m having the hardest trime downloading desktop themes for my comp.

Our company recently switched to XP and I’m trying to download desktop themes. Yet I’m having no luck whatsoever…the download goes ok, but here are my problems;
1 - the files don’t save to the ‘standard’ desktop theme folder
2 - if I use the browse function in my ‘display’ mode, the files I downloaded don’t show (and yes, I am looking in the location where they saved to)

Do I have to do a special thing with regards to downloading dwsktop themes for XP??

Any help is greatly apreciated it

I simply save the themes to a common folder under My Documents. Then under Display Properties (right mouse click on desktop - properties)\Themes - I select the them I want to use from the list. Windows XP finds all the themes on my systems and lists them here (under Display Properties\Themes).

This works on the 6 computers I have access to. I hope this helps.

DeVena…thankas for sharing.

I did what you do…right click/properties/etc…but I still only see the 5 original themes. I can browse but the ones I downloaded do not show up. It’s propbably due to the fact that it only lets me look for files ending .theme.

Any other ways I can try?

XP in a corporate environment can be set up so that themes can’t be installed. Contact your I&TS department to see if they’ve set up any restrictions.
