Stupid question:Mustard vs Mustard gas

Hola!

I was just wondering, is mustard gas, the gas used in WWI and supposedly stockpiled by many rogue nations, and mustard, the yellow liquid we put on a hot dog, the same general chemical?

If it is, how do I turn mustard into gas? I have done this internally with baked beans and beer before, but not this.

Any thoughts?

SENOR

It’s called mustard gas because some say it smells like mustard. It has nothing to do with the condiment.

Mustard gas

Thanks Woolly- I never knew.

It could be that the smell is added as a safety feature for those handling it during transportation to the point of use. By the time it is deployed, the fact that it also alerts the proposed victim is relatively unimportant, or at least was thought to be.

Much of the natural fuel gas is also odorless or nearly so and has odor added for this purpose.

I remeber hearing somewhere that ordinary table mustard is actually poisonous if eaten in great enough quantities. Is this true?

Too much will probably harm you, that’s why they call it ‘too much’.

Yes.
