Style of hat worn by (Disney's) Pinocchio

I have to put a Pinocchio costume together. For ease of recognition, I’ll want to base the costume on Pinocchio as depicted in the Disney movie.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to walk into a costume shop and find a Disney Pinocchio costume. If I end up having to put one together, though, what style hat should I be asking for???

Pinocchio Hat

A Tyrolean hat.

It’s a Phrygian cap.

Phrygian Caps

IIRC a Phrygian cap was used on earlier versions of Pinocchio, but Disney decided to use the Tyrolean.

Yeah, looking at some more Disney images I think you’re right: it’s more rounded and, well, Phrygian than a straight Tyrolean hat, but it does have the brim and the feather.

Found the early model sheet:

Indeed, that is a Phrygian hat, but then the final design of Disney’s Pinocchio did go for the Alpine/Tyrolean model of hat:

Cool thanks!
