Subliminal messages?

how much are these used in the movie theater? for movies and advertising?

i don’t mean stuff you can see like the ring flashing in the movie “the ring”. i mean like the “fight club” brad pitt one frame stuff. stuff you can’t obviously see.

also, can some people consciously see what others can’t. as in, they have quicker minds to process images?

Actually, the whole subliminal message thing was based on a faulty study done in the '50’s. It was never proven to be true.

I’ll find and post a link to this when I get home this evening.

I read a book in back in the 80’s called Subliminal Seduction.

There was definately something in some of the ads he addressed but he also went way overboard on others.

RawDuke, are you saying that there wasn’t any subliminal messages or that they weren’t effective?

There were subliminal messages, but they were never shown to be effective.

I wrote a paper on this subject in my senior year of high school and used Subliminal Seduction as one of my sources.

My conclusion stated that it seemed that subliminal advertising did indeed exist, but that it probably did not work.

Are subliminal messages secretly embedded in advertisements?

I’m lost here. Can you elaborate? I didn’t know there was some sort of subliminal message in Fight Club.

I think he is refering to either the quick frames of Brad Pitt in the movie, before he is properly introduced as a character, or the practice of splicing single frames of pornography into family films, which is mentioned in the movie.

I love “Fight Club”.

Thanks! Now I don’t have to look it up!
