Wow, yeah that basically sums up the Season 3 finale LOL
Pretty funny - thanks. Loved Greg practically scraping the ceiling. I think the guy’s Kendall was best of the bunch.
When I made that post I didn’t empathize with a single person. I’m now caught up and empathize with most of them, but they’re still all pretty shitty… Tom’s probably leapfrogged Greg as far as being a likeable character but that only happened in the last couple episodes when he started using women.
Signed copies of Brian Cox’s autobiography are now available here while supplies last. I’ve ordered one for me and one for my sister, who also likes the show.
That was hilarious, thank you! I find when I’m on a Succession binge (have watched each season at least twice now) , I constantly have the theme song in my head. It’s also one of the few shows I never skip the intro on.
Bumped.
Yesterday I finished the audiobook, read by the author in his classic Scottish growl. Lots of great stories about the British stage since the Sixties. Lots of names shamelessly but entertainingly dropped of the movie stars with whom he’s worked (from Laurence Olivier to Steven Seagal, from Spike Lee to Matt Damon, from Brad Pitt to Vanessa Redgrave, etc.), too, and a very interesting but disappointingly short chapter on Succession.
Sounds about right to me, given the arc of the show:
Yes, same- I will be sorry to see it go but it’s such a great and complex show, it bears up for many repeat viewings. I would much rather have that than a long lasting series that declines in quality.
I really appreciate when shows don’t overstay their welcome. I guess we’ll see when the season comes out, but it feels like 1 more is right.
Was this decision made before the fourth season was completed? I prefer it when shows are able to wrap things up, rather than being abruptly cancelled with plotlines left hanging.
The article implies yes.
Bit more on Jesse Armstrong’s train of thought here. He seems to still struggling with the finality of it. If he managed an annual special centred on Kendall’s birthday party that year, I would be very happy - his spectacular imploding 40th birthday remains the highlight of an amazing series.
Season 4 premiere tonight. Anyone else watch?
My wife and I binged the first three seasons over the past week and a half, with us re-watching the Season 3 finale right before tonight’s new episode.
Fun to see the kids finally teaming up to go after the old man.
The Disgusting Brothers are…something. Loved Greg’s description of how he scored with his date: “we put our hands down each other’s pants and rummaged around.”
And then Tom getting Greg to tell Logan about it! I don’t know how it all ends, but man, I would watch the hell out of a spin-off featuring these two.
Thinking back over the episode, Logan’s conversation with his security guy Colin was curious. I was wondering if he was having a stroke again for a minute. It seems Logan’s a pretty lonely guy at the end of the day.
The opening portion with the siblings in LA felt like parody of Succession to me. Going through the motions.
I warmed to it though. Tom is always a standout. Yes, Logan is lonely. So is… everyone? Is there anyone that doesn’t hate their life? Some of the side characters sure, but all of the main characters are empty husks of humans that try to destroy each other as a distraction of the emptiness inside.
As jarring as it was to witness Logan having a conversation about the afterlife, it was even more shocking to have Colin start talking about his dad. “My dad is very religious”, he begins to say - then Logan interrupts him and that’s the end of what’s most likely our one and only glimpse into Colin’s life. This show is all about moments like that. A lesser show would have expounded on Colin’s backstory or something, Succession just gives you a tiny, TINY peek behind the brick wall.
I’m not sure they’re humans of any kind, but rather some sort of alien life form that’s making a bad attempt at mimicking humans. They certainly don’t talk like humans, they don’t react to stimuli like humans, they don’t act like any humans I’ve ever met.
“You might get your dick stuck in an AI jerk machine” is the quality dialogue I’ve been waiting for.
My god, the kids are getting so played.
